I am what you might consider a basic internet user. I live alone and I have one desktop, a smartphone and an iPad - from which I do the majority of my internet usage, so my traffic is light. My previous router was starting to slow down and needed to be replaced. So I just wanted something that worked well that would at least maintain the speed of my previous router when it was new. This router performs well, has no issues with speed and has a very simple setup process. It is simple to setup an online account with a free Linksys app download to your device, which allows you to manage the router remotely. I can't comment regarding technical details, but I did research recommended models and that is how I found this one. Because of my basic home usage, I gravitated to this router as it was highly rated AND at a low price point compared to the other recommended models. If you're a basic internet user without a high amount of traffic, I would recommend this Linksys router.
This was the easiest w-fi unit I ever set up. The performance has been fast and steady even with several devices and two movies streaming. It's only been about 2 weeks, but so far it's been an excellent device.
The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because the wifi range is lacking. If you have a large open area it wont be a issue. If you have many walls and obstructions it wont get the 5ghz signal
Works great but appears to be used. I did not think I was buying used. It did not have original packaging and had a hand written pass code. Aside from that it has lightening fast speed and am super happy with it. Great price as well.
Older people do not always embrace the internet and are more comfortable reading an owners manual for answers... This affords us opportunity to understand our product at our own pace..... No instruction or owners manual.... just a small and vague set up pamphlet.... I do not like having to call a help line to talk / type / communicate with IT people that cannot understand people over 40..... I do everything to setup and it works fine.... now I cant even log on to talk to a person.... YES ... I tried the default password and set up.... It is working BUT NOT NEAR THE SPEEDS IT SHOULD and did the 1st night... BUT I can not get on to fix or even checkout the settings....
My inexpensive wifi router finally died, so I thought I would spend a few extra dollars and get what I thought would be a better router, I was wrong. The install was fairly easy. Right out of the box the wireless speed was slow and intermittent. I made sure everything was updated and that didn't help either. I worked through the help suggestions on their page, and those helped a little bit. It was still slow and dropping connection, so I called tech support and got an individual who kept trying to sell me their remote tech support for 10 dollars. She clearly did not wish to be on the line with me. The first thing she had me do was direct wire my laptop to the router and run a speed test. When the results were fine wired, she said nothing was wrong, said thank you for calling and hung up on me. Long story short, not impressed with the product or customer service. I returned this and bought a $40 router and not a single issue.
We purchased this router to replace our 9 year old router. The performance was terrible and the range was worst than our older model. Since the router had no range and kept kicking us off, the usage of our data plans on our cell phones was being completely used up. Not sure what was going on, but we ended up taking it back due to very poor performance.
I have had this for a couple weeks now. If I could give half a star that is what I would rate this router. Don't waste your money. I bought this to replace my N router hoping to speed things up. It was easy to set up and that is where the half star comes from. Videos now spend more time buffering than playing. I often have to turn off the wifi on my phone to get my apps to load. I have great internet so I know that is not the problem.
...I paid $79 for them to send me a used product from 2009...for windows 7....I can go to ANY thrift store and buy a used one for a few bucks...I did not bother opening the box, what a waste of time and money...
Linksys routers used to be my 1st until i got this horrible router and customer care service ipad loses connection all the time, computer lags cause of this router, I go outside I wouldn't waste money on linksys routers I am going to pick netgear with my cell phone no more then 10 feet from router and my cell can not see my INTERNET router but my cell picks up many of my neighbors network fine so i moved modem and router upstairs still didn't help and things just got worse reset was far worse then not resetting the router even linksys tech couldn't help me, although the linksys tech was awesome but the customer service was horrible... hopefully no one else runs into this problem is so dont waste ur time with linksys they will replace the router but u have to give ur credit card info up front....
