Aroma ? ( I really didn't pay attention, when I made it in the microwave. I have to keep that in mind, and update post). That said, I don't remember anything off putting, while it was cooking. ; ) Worked fine with My Jambalaya. : ) Yes, I would recommend this product. Good Buy for the price.
Cooks up good in 25 minutes. It's a good size bag that'll last a good while for what it costs. It maybe weird but I'm happy with cooked 2 cups in a bowl covered with ketchup. In fact if you add in 1 lb. browned ground beef and a drained can of whole kernel corn you have a great bell pepper stuffing with ketchup on top to bake.
A good all-'round rice. It may not be the "top of the line" or a specialty rice, but it's hard to beat for quality. I find fewer impurities (like chaff, debris, etc.) in this rice than I do in other brands. It's consistent. You'll get the same results from every bag you use. It's not dry one bag and mushy the next. It'll come out the same way every time (provided you cook it the same way every time). This rice tastes like rice instead of a flat or no taste off brand. It cooks up evenly without turning to mush. You can be lazy and not rinse it before cooking and it still comes out without becoming one solid lump. If there is anything negative about this rice, it's that it tends to come out a little on the dry side (but that could be just the way I cook it). I use a little more water than what is called for (1⅛ cup of water instead of 1 cup) and that takes care of the problem. This rice is well worth the extra cost.
This rice has been a family favorite for as long as I can remember. I have tried other brands over the years, but always ended up coming back to Mahatma, which is now the only long grain white rice in my pantry. Also, the two 5lb pack is a huge plus. Can't go wrong with this item, especially at its very reasonable price.
This is my “go to” rice! If you follow the directions, it cooks up perfectly every time. I love using my enameled cast iron to cook it in for wonderful taste and texture.
I used it to make Rice Pudding, ,and believe it or not the Rice quality made it easier for me to get a good final product. Tasted real good! I also used it in fried stirred rice with Veggies and Eggs. This Rice is worthy of my money 👍
Mahatma rice is the only one we buy. It mixes great with other ingredients and doesn't lose its taste or texture. When cooked correctly it has a great consistency. We purchase the 5lb bag because rice is eaten several days a week.
Cooks beautifully. Love the extra long grain. Best rice I've found for absorbing flavorful sauces in rice bowls, especially in multi-ethnic recipes. Also makes EXCELLENT rice pudding.
Traditional Mahatma Enriched White Rice has been an excellent choice of rice . The aroma when you open the rice cooker It's unique and delicious. Excellent also for “moros” , “congri “ and others yellow rices.
Overall I love this brand of rice and have been using it for years. I was very disappointed when I realized rice had come out of the bag into the box and all over my counter when I took it out of the box. The bag wasn't completely sealed and I found two holes in different areas of the bag.
