Martha White Corn Meal Mix, 5.0 LB

For baking their cornbread ..... it is awesome. I used to totally use ballard cornbread mix for perfect cornbread. Since they are no longer OUT there in the original variation, I found that this mix is a perfect substitute for the ballard I used for DECADES. .... and of course, cast iron pan is a MUST. I leave it bottom side up until it cools a bit so the bottom stays crunchy I sometimes substitute the oil for Dukes Mayo ... makes a really creamy corn bread. (it has to be Dukes). Also for Thanksgiving cornbread dressing ...I'll go ahead and add the onions and sage before I cook the bread. Even if some of the onion pieces burn in the crust ... it renders a great stuffing base

Martha White corn meal makes the best corn bread for me.

What I love about this cornbread mix is the texture of the finished product. Not cakey. It is not a sweet mix. What I grew up with in the South. I live in NH now and you cannot get this product anywhere in the state or even in MA. So I order a couple of large bags at a time and that holds me over for the year. My only complaint is with the Walmart shipping packaging. Walmart packed one bag in a used plastic bag (had holes in it) and the other without a protective wrapping. Well sure 'nuf, both product bags split a little in shipping. I was ok with the one packed in a used plastic bag, but lost about a third of the other bag to spillage inside the shipping box.

You cannot make Cornbread with "WHITE" corn meal ! Walmart Needs to Stock "Yellow" Corn meal mix !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When did Walmart decide force Peoples Needs ????????

The bag was busted open in the box. everything else was ok or i would have just given 1 star

It would be great had they sent what I ordered, but they sent flour instead of corn meal. they really need to pay attention when packing the orders. I've re-ordered the corn meal, so hopefully when I get it, it will be right. I understand everyone makes mistake, so hopefully the next order will be right.

The quality was bad my cornbread turned orange and when I researched it was so many things that could cause that. This was the second time it has happened with this brand. It's sad I have used Martha White my whole life.
