Work great. #sweepstakes
Light really easy and starts fire quickly
Cover fits and works very well
I've had several cooks so far, last one was spent smoking four different meats: brisket, pulled pork shoulder, a whole chicken and pork belly (burnt ends). Everything came out spectacular.
Its a solid made grill. Took about 2 hours to put together but everything was clearly marked. This grill is the easiest way to grill with charcoal! Load up the hopper and set your temperature. You can use the wifi feature to watch the temp with your phone and allows for a few other features also by phone. It does good in the rain and doesn't collect water but we will be getting a grill cover soon. I would really recommend this grill.
Nice smoker. The assembly instructions are horrible. #sweepstakes
Aside from the delivery delays, I have been very happy with this Grill Smoker. Assembly was pretty straight forward and took about 1.5 hours. First burn does produce a lot of smoke but that is because several of the parts are coated with oil to keep them looking like new. Impressive how quickly it heats up. Will go from 0 to 250 in about 7 minutes and the smoke, even at the outset is not acrid. You can start smoking within 20 minutes of lighting. The wifi connection is a bit finicky but once I got connected it has been working well. So far have cooked some great ribs and brisket. Only wish the pandemic would end so I can cook for the masses again. The 1050 has a lot of Grill space.
I bought and assembled the gravity series 1050, and when I went to fire it up for the first time the fan wouldn’t come on. I went through the troubleshooting ideas and found that if you bypass the wiring harness and just plug the fan into the controller it would work. So it had a bad harness. I went through masterbuilt customer service and they said they put in an order for the harness and to check my email for shipping information. I never received said email, so I wrote them back and asked for an ETA and was told the part is on back order and they don’t know when they’ll get it. After reading a bunch of reviews, I found out this happens a lot with their customer service. With people waiting for 6 months for a part. It’s extremely frustrating to spend $800 on a grill and not be able to use it even once, and not know when you’ll be able to use it for the first time.
I love the grill but without support I cannot endorse the grill. The only way to get support under warranty is by submitting an online form. Masterbuilt tells you to ignore errors, there is nothing you can do when you get the error anyway. After you submit your form, get your error, which you are to ignore, no response from Masterbuilt. I would think they would realize if they are getting no warranty registrations or claims for warranty support, there might be a problem but I guess not.
This grill is HEAVY. It is sent on a small wooden platform (pallet like) and is off loaded with an electric pallet jack. My grill arrived with punctures (like fork lift blades) and because of packaging, the smoker box was dented and scraped. I had to return to the nearest Walmart, which is a pain in the tookus. Definitely soured me on their delivery operation. I ended up purchasing the same grill from another vendor and use it frequently. 4 Stars on the grill. It would get a five, but the overall packaging is not sturdy enough for the weight, and my grill lid had two small indentations I choose to accept. My grill did arrive with an upgraded control cable (reviews stating this was thin wire). Most all of the other comments I have read on the grill are accurate.
