NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Break Open 5 Geodes - Geology Science Kit for Unisex Children

My Grandson loves this set. However if you don't have some tools to open these rocks you will struggle. You could use a small screwdriver and hammer. The kid will need help though. Make absolutely sure you use safety glasses. Everyone that is looking on should look away or use other eye protection. Some of the rocks break easy but others are a challenge. But it is fun and educational for a future rock hound! Grandson loves it!

Great gift for 7-9 year old boys. Does not come with hammer or chisel. Always wear goggles-included and came with small magnifier

MY 9 YEAR OLD GRANDSON LOVES EXPLORING AND I HID THESE FOR HIM TO DISCOVER. IT WAS GREAT SEEING HIS EXPRESSION WHEN HE CRACKED THE GEODE OPEN TO SEE ALL IT'S SPLENDOR. LOVED THIS ITEM!

My son loved this! It's makes science seem more fun to him and makes him want to learn more about different rocks!

this is a christmas gift for my 8 yr old grandson

This was fun for a geology-loving kid, and got him away from electronics for half a minute. Most of the geodes were not very interesting, and didn't make it into his collection. It was worth it for him to have the experience of breaking the geodes himself (and it did make him voluntarily walk away from electronics temporarily). I'd get it again if he asked.

here's the thing, you are just buying 5 very small geodes and a pair of $2.00 safety goggles. No hammer, no chisel. Most ppl have hammers, sure. But there's no info on the chisel specs you need to buy. If you get for a kid, you need to make sure they have the right tools.

Only one geode in the kit and when broken open was not really a true geode. This was an awful kit. Very disappointing!
