Cyanocobalamin / Cyanide
In my haste to purchase B12 supplement, I chose the NOW brand as I have heard positive comments about the company. I did not check the ingredients for this particular item. Once received I discovered the product contains cyanocobalamin. "The name "cyanocobalamin" is derived from including a cyanide group within the molecule." Even though cyanocobalamin is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) I would prefer not to be intentionally consuming any cyanide. Therefore, I purchased another B12 supplement containing methylcobalamin--a naturally occurring form of vitamin B12--from Jarrow Formulas. This is just my personal, non-medical preference :)
