Until I bought this smoker the only smoking I had done was in a small metal box on my stove top. I did a LOT of research. My three requirements were precise temperature control, usable for smoking OR grilling, and ease of cleaning. This smoker nails all three. The first thing that impressed me was the packaging. It was VERY well packed - even the washers and bolts were precisely counted and packaged. Then it was time to try it out. My first attempt was a whole chicken. I spatchcocked it, removed the breastbone, and then brined it. I smoked it at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 hours. It came out PERFECTLY!
I am 56 years young and have always wanted to smoke but never have, until now. Last month I was gifted my Bronco from my parents. Wow! I don't have a hobby but if I had to name something that gives me pleasure and joy, it's grilling and now smoking. I'm gonna enjoy my journey. The Bronco was easily assembled. The heads of the bolts used for assembly could have been case hardened (my opinion), but other than that, this is a well designed smoker for small jobs which I will be doing. Would recommend highly.
Love the quality of this smoker. Very well built and easy to assemble. Absolutely love it and recommend this lil smoker
I'm not new to smoking meats. I've used box smokers, electric smokers, pellet smokers… This smoker is amazing. Light it, set it, forget it! I mean if you love smoked meat, there's nothing else you need! Worth every cent!
I love this smoker because I prefer cooking with charcoal and this smoker is the best I have ever used because of its ability to control the temperature.
I have been testing a new OKJ Bronco for 2 months now at the URE BBQ Lab. Let me start w/ this, the Bronco is built heavy, it is well made and the design is very elegant. I love that it will run 14 hours at 225'f on 11 lbs of charcoal with me only needing to adjust the intake 3-4 times, not set it and forget it but nothing good comes easy. Easy to put together, good manual too. I like the shelf adn towel rack can be interchanged so to speak, good idea. The Bronco has an easy to read thermometer, a plus for the new Pit-Master. I can not see one of these ever wearing our, just not getting super hot then cooling down like off-sets, this is why the paint on a used Bronco looks so nice, they are running in the 200'f to 300'f most of the time. I love the easy to read dampers & find that leaving the stack open and the intake damper set on 1, 2 or 3 will give one good cooks in the 225'-275'-325 range, just up or down on that intake to dial it in. I have been running a pit for 40 years, nothing cooks chicken as well as a Bronco. That is why we say Bronco-Yeah!
I love this cooker I have cooked alot on this drum I have 4 outdoor cookers and the bronco is my first choice hands down unless I'm doing big briskets then I use my stick burner it is almost a set it and forget it cooker I have produced an outstanding product everytime definitely thinking about bronco pro
I had no experience smoking, with bronco I have made the best ribs for my friends, it is robust and firm, it brings the problem of short air intake, but it was not a problem for cooking, and the thermometer is not accurate, it marks up to 50 degrees less than the real thing, it is necessary to use a good digital thermometer. But in general, this versatile smoker is highly recommended. Customer service will send me a correct tube, I hope it arrives and I update my comment.
My first purpose made smoker purchase and it rocks!! Smoked some ribs, chicken and a chuck roast for pulled beef so far. Working up my courage toward a Brisket soon. I adapted a temp controller to the intake and it's truly set it and forget it! I'm gonna be popular with this Bronco lol. Quality and function is top notch. I did seal the two half's with high temp RTV along with the bolts to minimize any grease drippings on the exterior! Also ordered the second accessory shelf for more room. I love this pony and look for any excuse to get Smokey! Well done Oklahoma Joe's!!
Nice heavy construction, and it maintains heat easily. The pork butts and sausage I've made are delicious. I only have 2 issues: A- it leaks oils from the smoking process where the top
