This suet basket feeder arrived one week ago. I mounted it the following day (suction cups not included), and nuthatches showed up to sample the gourmet fare (peanut suet cake) a few days later. But this downy woodpecker (pictures) did not arrive for a whole week.. The cage is solid and closes / locks securely. I have no worries whatsoever of the cage opening unless a squirrel works out a way to get to it and forces it off the window break it open on the ground. The feeder cage comes with a chain to hang below a branch or pole, but I purchased suction cups separately to mount on my window (pictures). Keep this advice: Be very mindful of securing this cage in a place prohibiting squirrel access. Squirrels are resourceful rodents that will tirelessly seek ways to defy your best plans for security. And if a squirrel gets to it? The rodent will find a way to break the cage open, or alternatively, drop it to the ground and feast upon the matter within. Squirrels are gluttons. They will eat until nothing remains. Worse still, squirrels will destroy your birding experience.

Walmart had the best price on this suet basket. I shopped around and was shocked at how much more expensive these have gotten in the past 10 years or so. I bought it to replace an older one that had become very dirty over the past 10 years. I guess the higher prices are a result of price gouging, corporate greed, etc. I put out suet in the winter to attract birds, and I've even seen cardinals and others eat it, as well as squirrels. It's a good value. Pennington makes great bird-related items.

We birds say we need suet besides the variety of seed this owner puts out. This holder is perfect for us. She’s learned to break the cake in half during the summer months. Living in the south a whole cake spoils before we all can eat it. We entertain her crack heads (aka cats) by hanging in different positions to eat the suet. Since they are Always inside we are safe! The green suet cage is a great color, but other bright colors would add a little zing to the backyard, like the bird feeders do. Might y’all consider this?

It sure seems sturdy enough.. I guess we will see how long it takes the squirrels to figure out how to run off with this one!!...lol. The last suet cage I had was found 40 ft. away, empty, with the flip-top part of the suet cage missìng. and I never did find that piece!....lol. Crafty little devils are what they are!!! I feed them too,but omly at their own designated area. But, sometimes, they get greedy for a good suet nut challenge!...lol

I've had these before many years ago, and these are just as good as before. They come with a wrapping chain to hang wherever you want. Simple design with door hinges that attaches with a simple clip. Easy to assemble and easy to load suet plug. I installed four of these onto my bird feeder pole just now with a woodpecker blend suet and a wild bird blend suet. I'm in waiting mode now to have birds come by. Great product. I would buy it again.

The size (2 x 5.25 x 5.25 inches) is compact but perfect for holding a standard suet cake without it feeling bulky or heavy on the tree branch. I decided I wanted to add some zip to my porch this year. I filled huge planters and small planters but something was missing. I realized I needed more life. So I did what I usually do and turned to Walmart. I bought bird feeders and bird seed. Still wanted something else and that's when I came upon these. Now the birds are singing a happier tune and I like to believe a little more zip in their step

Great way to feed the pretty birds they really enjoy the suet cakes. The cage is cheap but it is not expensive so there's that. The squirrel keeps stealing the cage and I can't find them - they hang off if them making them fall from the tree. Annoying I mean I'm trying to feed the birdies.

The feeder is well built and the clasps keep the feeders closed ! I have raccoons that have learned to open the feeders but these seem to deter their midnight raids quite well. Also, there’s plenty of room for the variations in size of some suet cakes.

i have lots of these type of suet holders - these were very cheap plastic with spikes inside holder making it impossible to get suet in and very dangerous for birds .. they all broke before i could even try to make them better , threw them out .. stay away I guess you get what you pay for , i will stick to my usual brand
