I had the exact same one I purchased in 2021 and kept using it on a daily basis for 4.5 years, the only thing is that it's handles broke recently, so I bought a brand new one again. Highly recommended, saves me a lot of money by reducing the cooking time on electric stove.
Excellent product and quality. I wish they had made the same in 10Qts; this 8q is a little small for us. However, I am super happy with the product, and we have been using it from day one. 100% Recommended. NEVER OVER FILL YOUR PRESSURE COOKER.
I love it better than the aliminium one. It's wide from the bottom and the rubber "hard" white ring around it seals better than many Pressure cooker that I own in the past. It's save me time and electric bill. I cooked a lamb meat for only than 30mn and it came tender and delicious. The booklet that came with help cooking many things in few minutes. As I have a big family, I did purchase this pressure cooker. It is not easy to find or purchase the parts, like the ring for example. I wish it come with extra one for the future use.
As I haven't had it that long, I cant rate durability but love it. I wasn't able to duplicate the nice soft texture of beans I buy in cans. Also canned products have that plastic liner that I am trying to get away from. This duplicates the texture and is so short a time. I have cooked, pinto, garbanzo and black beans so far. Rinse and then put on stove, bring to a boil for 2 minutes, cover for 1 - 2 hours (I usually do 1 1/2) Then rinse thoroughly and just cover, turn to high until steam starts to come out well, turn way way down and start timing from there. 4 minute pintos, 2 minutes black beans and 10 minutes garbanzo. Let the pressure come down on its own after removing from burner another 7 or 10 minutes I estimate and voile! Soft and wonderful better than canned. I believe you can even can in this 8 quart but I am looking at a larger one specific to canning. Aluminum is fine for canning but not to eat out of. Use to talk hours and hours and still not have the texture I was looking for
I did a lot of research before purchasing this partaicular pressure cooker. The size is just right for my intended uses. This is the first pressure cooker I've EVER used, and it is so effecient and easy to use. I'm very happy with my decision to purchase this one!
Upon initial inspection when opening the box it came in, I was somewhat disappointed in the locking lugs located on the top, and lid. They seemed very light duty as opposed to the ones on the aluminum 6 qt Presto PC I was replacing. I have used it twice now-it is great-with dual handles, and newly designed seal, it is easier to lock and unlock the lid. Pot bottom is very heavy SS, so more even heating, (using an Induction type hot plate gives excellent heat control). Is much easier to clean, maintain, and store. Don't really care for the basket or trivet, but I don't use them anyway. The only real problem, is that with the extra 2 quarts capacity, now we eat left-overs for for a week, instead of just a couple of days. Gave my 6 quart aluminum Presto away-that one was good, but this one is better.
I got this to replace old Presto pressure cooker. Although the pressure rocker works differently than my old one, it was easy to get used to. The mirror finish is beautiful and cleans great. It heats evenly and there are no hot spots. The price was great so much better than any comparable pressure cooker and parts for Presto are available which is important because this will last a long time part availability can become an issue.
Replaced a still functional Presto aluminum cooker. The stainless improved not just the looks but the interior does not discolor like the aluminum type. The older model with the rocker type pressure regulator was so much nosier. With the new one you can actually watch TV and still be aware of the pressure regulator maintaining temperature. So far white chicken chile, and an awesome pot roast have made me glad I went with this new cooker. Presto makes a quality product and with a 12 year guarantee what's not to like.
I did do some on line research before purchasing the Presto. Although there are many good ones out there, the deciding factor for me was the company that stands behind the product. I read a number of unfavorable reviews for some of the most popular brands when it came to correcting either a manufacturing defect or replacement of a part on a discontinued model. I have had a Presto 4qt. pressure cooker for 40 years and parts are still available. I replaced it because it's aluminum, and I wanted a stainless steel one. The only reason I did not give this cooker a 5 star rating is because of the pressure gauge. In my old one there are markings on the gauge to show when the pressure level is at the cook range, and you can adjust the heat on your stove to just maintain it. The cook level on the new one is determined by a steady stream of steam coming from the vent, thus it's a guessing game as to whether the heat on the stove too high or not. It took me two usings to get used to it. That's the only complaint I have with it. It came out of the box like a polished piece of silver, a beautiful adition to any kitchen. It cooks perfectly, and cleans up easily. And Presto has been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come. I love this product.
The pressure valve does not seal, allowing steam to escape. Thankfully we were right there and caught it before a volcano of beans happened but check another review for photos of a boil over.
