it's exactly what I needed
This is a good size cooker. Fries and chicken always comes out just right. Great product.
I love this multi-cooker! I primarily bought it for frying, but there are so many more options than just frying. I love the frying/steamer basket that came with it too and the clear glass lid to watch the veggies steam. Non-stick inside gives you an easy cleanup. Comes with a manual that not only gives you directions on safety and how to use it, but also gives you ideas on the dishes that can be made in this cooker/steamer.
I LIKE EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE PRODUCT. WHAT I DID NOT LIKE IS THAT IT WAS NOT PUT IN A SHIPPING BOX. THE SHIPPING SLIP WAS PUT RIGHT ON THE PRODUCTS BOX AND MAILED. THERE WAS NO SAFETY CARE FOR THE ITEM SHIPPED. PLUS IT IS A GIFT FOR MY SPOUSE.GOOD THING I CHECKED THE MAIL INSTEAD OF HIM.
When my hubby passed in '08 my son kept his Dad's Presto as a bean pot and deep fryer. And it's still being used by him. I used the pot for making my meatball soup. And I decided it was time to buy my own and not borrow anymore. This one doesn't appear to be as deep as my original, but it's not a problem. And I still make great soups or Hubby's Bean Recipe ! Enjoy :-) Big Smile :-) Nana in se OK usa :-)
Good size for cooking for 2-4 eaters. Don't care for the break-apart temperature control: held together with a magnet to allow disconnect if pot is accidentally moved too far away. It's a safety feature to prevent yanking on the cord and possibly tilting and spilling the pot when it is moved farther than the length of the power cord (which seems to get shorter every year making it tougher to position on the counter within reach of the wall outlet). Easy to clean. Regulates temperature well, but takes a bit too long to heat up, especially if you're standing around waiting for the water to get to boiling before adding, say, the pasta noodles. Haven't used the oil fry/steamer basket yet. I don't oil fry, anyway, but I do steam vegetables, like asparagus. I had kept an old electric pressure cooker to repurposes as an electric soup pot. This replaces the old one, so the old one got trashed after seeing this new one works well. The old one, being a pressure cooker, didn't have a see-though glass lid, which I like for the new one to watch the cooking and also keep in the liquid or raise the temperature and reduce spills and splatter.
I have three of these electric pots. They are exceptionally versatile. Cooking pasta to deep frying french fries. The best item you can buy if your renting a room and need to make quick meals with very little cleanup.
I use these to fry fish and fries. This model for me is the best that presto makes. The bigger capacity fryers dont hold their temperature once you add the fish and as a result the fish end up soggy.
received this and had used it just 3 or 4 times. Worked fine, but for no apparent reason it will no longer power up. am working on a refund or replacement.
I have now owned 4 different Presto multi-cooker/kettle units. As far as cooking goes, it can serve as a crock pot and deep fryer. It's probably one of my favorite kitchen appliances. The temperature setting basically turns the heating unit off and rather than giving it actual fine temperature settings, but for most of the things I use it for that isn't an issue. To be honest, I would love to give this a rave review, but I cannot. The only thing the non-stick coating doesn't seem to stick to is the pot. My last one has already started shedding the interior coating after just 3 uses and it was only set high enough to boil and simmer stew! At least the first one lasted a few months before that happened. I had a stainless steel version which was awesome and I'd still be using it if it hadn't been damaged in a fire. If you can find a stainless steel one, get that. But unless you like eating the black non-stick coating... I'd pass on the cheaper version.
