Save time and money from peeling garlic! These are great, I buy them all of the time and keep them in my fridge. HERE'S A TIP! Whatever you don't use right away, you can freeze obviously but even better - get a container and fill it with these, add olive (or whatever) oil on top enough to cover them all. They won't get moldy last quite an extended amount of time. Just scoop out what you need and they are ready to toss in a pan and unlike freezing, they have kept their form and all that delicious flavor. I use these for literally everything, from mincing/mashing into dishes, blending into hummus, or even on their own caramelized with whatever i'm baking.
I bought plenty cuz I like garlic, I added many cloves to each pint of pickles. I unfortunately over purchased and even though I put them in the fridge, they quickly started to mold and sprout. SO, I put the sprouting ones in a bit of water to send out roots and now I have about 18-20 garlic cloves to plant to grow my own. I have also rooted some green onions I purchased from the store to plant now for a crop!
This is a fresh, peeled, with no preservatives, product, so it will spoil after a week or so. The package contains more than I can eat in a week, so I take out enough for one week a freeze the remainder. I use the frozen garlic right from the freezer. It actually micro planes better frozen.
Pro Tip: Freeze the bag and chop the cloves from frozen. These bags can spoil quickly if you are not planning to use it all in a few days. In order to get my garlic to last, I put the entire bag in the freezer when I get it. The garlic cloves do not stick together, and you can take out how many cloves you want at a time and start chopping. It is the easiest way I have found to use fresh garlic because I am not a fan of peeling garlic!
The only way these will work is if you process them immediately after purchase. Slice or chop them and 'stuff' them in a mason jar with olive oil. Not only will you have already processed garlic but also garlic flavored olive oil that you can use for a homemade salad dressing or use it for browning meat or even garlic toast etc. If you keep them in the original baggy or even a ziploc bag in the fridge they will sadly rot on you, no matter how well you pack them. That is, of course, IF you received a bag that didn't already have fuzzy garlic in it to begin with.
Gosh, this stuff is so hit or miss. Mostly a miss but I hate peeling garlic. More mold than is acceptable in this batch. I got enough pieces (4) for my recipe but this is pretty gross.
I’ve never had a package be usable through its best by date. My store seems to go out of their way to shop the ones that are moldy already, and it’s so frustrating because I have bought three packs in a row now that were clearly expired despite not hitting their best by date yet. I’m sure if I could use them, they’d be very convenient.
This product always arrive two days shy of going full moldy. In a bag of fresh cloves the 3-4 moldy ones turns the whole bag moldy only a few days no matter how well it is stored. The bag itself has no ventilation and lots of condensation. 8 out of 10 orders of peeled garlic in the past has turn moldy %26 walmart asks to return it instead of disposing of unsafe moldy food item. Buy from elsewhere or unpeeled in sleeves.
The last 2-TWO! times I've gotten this - it molded with in a day or 2- - I don't know if there was a bad one in each bag to make the rest just go bad- I was so disappointed- I was cooking and i needed them- so ??the pull date was far ahead so maybe they aren't being STORED properly? at the Store?
Moldy product. Substitute choice by Walmart! This item is repeatedly old, with mold, yet still sent out for delivery. Only when purchasing from Walmart the other local stores, Wegmans, PC, Weis, ALDIs, only Walmart. My own fault I know never to order FRESH Produce from Walmart!! lol!! Great job as always! 🤢🤮
