Dr. Russell Blaylock, a neurosurgeon, says in his newsletter, The Blaylock Wellness Report, that one should mix turmeric with oil in order for it to be absorbed. So one would need to break open the capsule and mix it with olive oil, fish oil, or coconut oil. He recommends 450 mg per dose and taking it 3 times a day. I have used turmeric with ginger in another brand - very disagreeable with my digestive tract. Although ginger is supposed to relieve digestive probs. - I find that not true with me.The Swanson brand does not contain ginger and has worked well for me.

I trust Swanson vitamins for purity and consistency, but I just learned from my doctor that she wants me using turmeric extract. Ground rhizome root is a more whole form that has more complementary components included, but is not as potent in curcuminoids as a concentrated extract, which can be 15x-25x stronger. No wonder I wasn't feeling much results from this, I needed a more potent product. I may come back to this product later as a buffer or a better choice for a more whole-foods approach to turmeric/curcumins.
