Sometimes knowing the temperature is useful. Most people have an app or two for that. I'm old school and old habits are hard to break. I paid extra to get this item from people I've used before. You get an indoor unit that displays both indoor and outdoor readings. It's about 3 X 4 inches big and uses two AAA cells. It will tell time if you set it. The Outdoor Unit. Just about any of this type of thermometer will work pretty much the same. Put two AAA batteries in the indoor unit then two in the outdoor unit. Hang the outdoor unit on a screw you already have and wait a few minutes. There. Done. A caveat: Any outdoor unit might last a year and maybe through two sets of batteries. You can improve performance by carefully selecting a protected spot to mount it. Avoid rain. If you need temperature info here's your thing.

I made this purchase only a few weeks ago, a gift for my wife who had been nagging me for a replacement of the (more than one) prior indoor/outdoor remote thermometers we have had over the years. Frankly, I had had enough of the difficulties of setting up the units, only to have them stop working. But, the wife prevails. I decided that I was not spending the cost of the prior units, so I chose this one. Imagine my surprise when we got the package and the ease of setting up the receiver and the sending units. It was working within a few minutes and did not lose the signal when the sending unit was relocated outdoors. If it keeps working as good as it is now, I am eating crow! I hope it works as well a year from now.

When I first put the batteries in, it did not do like the instructions had said. I was thinking I would have to return it but ….About one half hour later it was working just fine and has been ever since! Seems to be very accurate. Happy with purchase!

I absolutely love this item it works and functions well together in my opinion I believe that it would be a good item to purchase when wanting to know what the temperature is inside and out

Very happy with it to far. My old one's outside transmitter failed, but it is still showing inside temperatures. My new Taylor unit gives the exact same inside reading as the older unit still does. Make sure that you follow directions setting up the Taylor unit. The inside unit must have the batteries put in first, and wait to put in the outside batteries until the inside unit registers a temperature. The only thing I'm disappointed in is that the inside unit does not have a simple way to hang it up on a wall or stand it up.
