I love these rod holders. I installed these rod holders on a Pelican Trailblazer 100 on the front. These rod holders will hold the smallest crappie rod to the biggest ten foot surf rod that I own. I would recommend these rod holders to any fishing addict with a kayak.
These rod holders are sturdier than I thought they would be. I like the star wheel lock for the tilt. Gives a good positive feel for cinching tight the rod angle tilt. Also like the rod hold down lock at the top. It's sturdy and I feel will hold the rod in place without being pulled out. I'm sure you can find other professional rod holders out there, but they'll really be pricey and you've got nearly the same sturdy quality with these (and you get 2) for way less the price. Would definitely recommend you take a look.
have owned these on other boats. specifically went looking for these on my new boat. easy to install, easy to use and are a quality product. would not use any other brand or type!
Larger than expected. Holds pistol grip or spincast rods equally well. Adequately adjustable vertically and horizontally. Lock knobs need to be reversable so that both face the inside of the boat for easy access. There is no reason for the side mount kit to be more expensive than the flush mount because if you buy the mounts by themselves, they sell for the same price. All in all, I am pleased with the holders and have installed four of them on my boat.
These are a good deal and will be mounted on my family boat for trolling. The side mount allows me to put it where nobody will get snagged by the base when used for non fishing boating activities
This is a very good rod holder for its price. It is just plastic so take care not to abuse them or force them when using or they will break. We have used them on 4 fishing trips now without incident. If you have small children or abusive teens you may want to consider a different option. They are just fine for us. Great price, easy to install, easy to use.
These are good for the price. I don't like having to pull them up to swivel them around but they are pretty decent. I'm not sure what a big fish would do to them but they should be fine for 20 pounds and under.
Have not used these yet. Note on package (not ad) says something like "not for line over about 20/ lbs". I would never have bought these had that been in the ad. Cabela's sells the same item and also leaves this out. Mainly intended to use for trolling. These are just not strong enough and losing a rod and reel is not worth it. I will tie things down and give them a try. They are lightweight and apparently low quality. Walmart may get them back.
I have a pair of metal rod holders I used to put on a boat, and they held pretty good. These are thin plastic compared to the $18 a piece rod holders sold at Bass Pro or even Walmart. Of course, I knew 2 for $15 is not much and didn't expect much either. I use these for light river or lake fishing. I would think twice for ocean fish. When I started to adjust the angle of one of these, the bolt stripped from its case (it is the white handle with a bolt in the middle in the picture). I put professional crazy glue and fixed the problem. I also ordered the gunwhale mounts. For the money they are OK. But if you need tough durable plastic, look elsewhere.
These would be super nice if they were made to rotate without taking them from the mount.
