C and H is the only sugar I will bake with. It is a cane sugar, not a beet sugar. I dont care that some say there is no difference in the finished product when using beet sugar VS cane . There is a difference! I trust my baking to Cane sugar only. If I am spending time to scratch bake , C and H is my trusted brand. Plastic packaging with single seal dosent seal well enough . I end up with a solid lump of brown sugar. watch your seal
I have always hated how I have to rip a bag of brown sugar open and it hardens up over time. This bag has a seal!!!! I seen that and was like wow this is like literally the best thing since sliced bread. A genius designed this bag. On top of that I cooked with it and the taste was very potent in a good way like a little goes a long way. It’s great. It melted smoothly too.
From baking cookies and cakes to glazing meats and sweetening sauces, this brown sugar delivers consistently rich, deep flavor and superior moisture that makes every recipe better. Right when you open the bag you can smell the warm, caramel-like aroma — that’s the signature richness you want in dark brown sugar. It dissolves smoothly and evenly in batters, doughs, and liquids, giving baked goods incredible texture and taste. The extra molasses in this dark variety adds bold sweetness and depth that truly enhances recipes like gingerbread, barbecue sauces, or even oatmeal. The zipper-pak is a great quality-of-life bonus. It keeps the sugar fresh and prevents clumping, which means no fuss with storage and minimal waste. Even after repeated openings, it stays soft and easy to scoop — just the way brown sugar should be. Highlights: • 🍯 Rich, deep flavor — bold molasses taste that elevates baking and cooking • 🧁 Moist, soft texture — perfect for cookies, cakes, sauces, and glazes • 📦 Convenient 2 lb size — ideal for regular use without frequent repurchases • 🔒 Zipper-Pak packaging — keeps sugar fresh and easy to store Why I Recommend It: If you want a brown sugar that delivers exceptional flavor, excellent texture, and the convenience of easy storage, the C%26H Premium Pure Cane Dark Brown Sugar is a fantastic choice. It’s become a staple in my pantry — and a real game-changer for everyday baking!
Ever since the pandemic, it's SO hard to find true dark brown sugar!!! Did molasses die from Covid?? Anyway, I cannot believe the negative reviews about hard brown sugar!!! Mine was soft (this time). ANY sugar, salt and other crystalized item can turn into a sandy rock, especially on humid days. After I store my brown sugar, if not taken care of properly, it WILL harden in the container! However, This is a very old kitchen tip!!! Get a container, I have a quart size blue glass mason jar but any plastic container will work just as well - just big enough to hold entire bag of sugar. Dump the brown sugar in there, even if you have to break it up into big chunks with a very pointed knife, or awl, even a fork. Then take a heal of bread and just lay it on the top of the brown sugar and close the lid. The brown sugar soaks up the little bit of moisture in the bread and softens up just like brand new. The bread will be complete desiccated (untoasted) toast! The sugar will stay soft a while and just pull the bread out, throw it away and put a new slice in. If you are using a mason jar, you will only be able to fit a 1/2 slice in. Make sure it's narrow enough to fit into the mouth of the container, otherwise it will break while pulling it out and you will have to fish for the broken pieces. Just like honey! It gets cool, it crystalizes! DO NOT THROW IT AWAY!!! Run warm water on it, or put it a bowl of hot water. Now, to avoid this issue all-together, I keep mine on top of the fridge - "just enough" heat to keep it from ever crystalizing.
I love the CNH brown sugar I ordered this because it has the Ziploc seal at the top and what I got was not. I was not out of brown sugar, but this was what they used to send the dark brown sugar in a Ziploc baggie and I thought OK well that’s great. They’ve gone back to being able to preserve and not get concrete when you go to use your brown sugar but sadly, I guess it was just a stock photo picture or something. Just to let you know what you order and what it looks like and when it comes in is not always what you get and this is one of those times. Very disappointed.
I ordered 2 pack of dark brown sugar, one package was great soft like it should be and the other was hard like a brick. I wonder how the person who shopped my order would feel if this was them. I'm 83 years and can't shop for my self, maybe that's something they should think about, what if it was there mom or dad, or grand parents.
Although the Best By date had not expired the product was so hard it seemed to be old, as it was hard and dried out, the texture of a rock. I can only use it when heated with additional liquid.
I don't know what is in this bag of C%26H brown sugar. I've never had brown sugar with ROCKS in it! I put them in my food processor to see if I could break them up, but they nearly broke my blades! They didn't even soften up in the microwave, wrapped in damp paper towels. Three of them now have white streaks where the blade cut into them, and I don't know if I should use the rest of the sugar! What's happening to quality control! I guess I'll buy some other brand to finish my strawberry rhubarb crisp!
This "dark" brown sugar has been growing lighter and lighter lately. I compared the last bag I bought to a bag of Great Value LIGHT brown sugar, and they were practically identical in color. I'm not going back to C%26H. Why pay double for the same product? Stop skimping on the molasses, C%26H!
This bag of C%26H was a sub from what I actually ordered. Unfortunately, that bag looked like it was 20 years old, with pinholes in it everywhere and sticky on the back side. But what was most awful was the fact that the sugar was rock hard and formed into 1-2" blocks. Really weird. Did the bagger not notice that this is NOT what sugar is supposed to look like? I returned it. I'd give 0 stars if it was possible.
