Natural Ingredient

Janice May 17, 2026

Nice alternative to more processed oils or similar ingredients that have trans fats, chemical additives or undergo considerable processing. It is odorless and flavorless, despite being a pork product. As such, it takes the flavor of whatever is added to it. Excellent for frying, as well as baking. Personally, I melt, then add flavoring and use it to toss it in my dogs' dry food which they often hesitate to eat since wet dog food is no longer in the budget. When covered with this mixture it doesn't last long in their bowls. It is similar to how humans use salad as a carrier for their favorite dressing more than actually enjoying the salad components themselves. My use may not be necessary down the road when the price of dog food comes back down from the upper atmosphere. It is a solution for a problem for which I found no other successful approach.

I rarely use butter anymore. I use this for everything. I will put some in a pan and fry a hamberger. Then I will put my two pieces of bread in about 1 tablespoon of left over grease. Fry for just a few minutes. Oh my, I am in heaven, it makes the best toast to put my hamberger on with homemade Mac sauce and raw onions. (I only toast one side) Anyone hungry yet? Back to the old days, give it a try.

This was the only size package they had which is ridiculous. I used this in 3 uses which means right back to the store. The product is very good. The store, not so much.

...Not Just for Frying Fish!

Renee October 27, 2025

This brand of lard is great for frying chicken, fish, onion rings, French Fries, or just about anything that is to be cooked in grease. And I really don't see any difference in this and Crisco brand shortening except that Crisco costs a lot more for less. This lard makes fantastic pie crust from scratch! ...FYI, please don't make the mistake of buying a generic brand cooking oil and expecting it to fry because it usually will not 'crispen' your food; it'll react as if there's water in the oil and will leave you thinking you've flipped your lid! This lard is the best for a 'crispy fried' dish!

Lard is good!!!

Joseph February 3, 2026

great for searing, and far healthier than fake, highly processed butter- alternatives! My grandmother swore by lard in her pie crusts!

I use this when I make grilled cheese sandwiches instead of putting butter on the bread. it creates a crispy goodness that butter just cannot match!!
