Essential ingredient for baking bagels. I wish it wasn't so expensive but it's absolutely needed and it's absence will be noticed. About a Tablespoon in the Water for boiling and another in the dough itself for authentic flavor. Nice caramel coloring to it.

I needed barley malt to make pretzels and was was pleased to be able to source it from Wal-Mart online!

Let be its malt flavor use in my insure vanilla taste like a vanilla malt use it in chocolate same as malt but surprisingly in the dark chocolate tasted like a malt ball was told by another senior and a malt ball cake so far

I use this specially for making bagels. it helps give them their chewy texture and helps them brown nicely. also gives a depth of flavor. I would have given a 5 but the price is much too high compared to if paid at a store rather than online. also it is difficult to work with because so gooey and sticky. you can use non diastatic malt instead a powder. but if you live in humid area, no matter how you store it it hardens.

Perfect for the best homemade pretzels. Wouldn't use for anything else.
