This garden tool has truly impressed me with its versatility and performance. It effortlessly tackles a wide range of gardening tasks, from precise trimming to more demanding digging. The ergonomic design ensures comfort during extended use, making it a joy to work with. I've found it to be exceptionally durable, holding up well even with frequent and varied application. Overall, it's a fantastic asset for any gardener looking for a reliable and effective tool. Handle is comfortable and easy to use.
THE FISKARS BILLHOOK KNIFE IS GREAT IF IT'S A TOOL YOU NEED. I HAVE A LOT OF ORNAMENTAL GRASSES IN MY YARD THAT HAVE TO BE CUT EVERY YEAR. THIS IS AN IDEAL TOOL FOR THIS. IT ALLOWS YOU TO HOLD THE STEMS OF THE GRASSES IN ONE HAND AND SWING TO CUT THROUGH WITH THE OTHER. I'M PLEASED HOW WELL IT WORKS CUTTING VINES DOWN. IT WORKS ALSO WITH SOME OF THE BAMBOO I HAVE AS LONGS AS IT HASN'T HARDEN OUT. AS FARS AS THE SAW GOES IT WORKS. IT MAY NOT BE THE BEST SAW FOR THE JOB BUT IT BEATS HAVING TO RUN BACK TO GET A SAW IF YOU RUN ACROSS A LIMB WHILE CLEARING THE YARD. THE COVER FITS SECURELY AND TAKES JUST A LITTLE EXTRA EFFORT TO SECURE. I WILL SAY THAT MY HUSBAND IS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO DOESN'TS BELIEF ANYONE CAN PUT AN EDGE ON A BLADE LIKE HE CAN SO I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH SHARPNESS BECAUSE UPON ARRIVAL IT WAS SHARPENED BY MY HUSBAND.
my DH an I love to go fishing and having a great multipurpose knife is a definite necessity. This billhook knife has a sturdy slip free grip and boy is it sharp! We use it to cut bate, cut fishing line and any other needs while out at the fishing pier. I love this knife. Can't wait to take it camping.
This tool is not only study, but heavy enough to get the job done. It came just in time to get my shrubs cleaned up for spring and was easy to use to edge my beds. I also used it to split up bunched root balls. Multipurpose to use for many gardening jobs, I put it right in my garden caddy with my clippers
I had underestimated the size when requesting this item and was pleasantly surprised. The size is comparable to the average hatchet but with much more versatile uses. The blade is extremely sharp and can be used to chop like a hatchet or used as a garden knife for cutting finer stalks/twine etc.. The back side does have saw teeth that are not really coarse enough for serious sawing. The sheath is very tight on the tool but I think it will stretch w/use. Biggest negative is the sheath's belt loop is too small except for the thinnest dress belts.
I really wasn't even sure what this was when I ordered it. But, as we live in a townhouse, that the front door opens to a city sidewalk, thought it might be useful for that. The sidewalk has seams that grow weeds in them. He usually just sprays weed killer on them and scrapes them out with a shovel once they have died. With this knife he just drags it through the weeds and then sweeps them up. Easy peasy! No more expensive weed killer! Thanks, Spark Reviewer Program!!!
I have to say this is one of the strangest garden tools I've ever seen. It's somewhere between a knife, a hatchet, an edger, and a saw - looking more like something a Knight or Samurai would carry in their belt. That aside, I tried using it (as advertised) and found some of the functions were kinda mediocre. The knife blade was sharp, but didn't command the same functionality as a hatchet or machete. The saw side was likewise sharp, but was nowhere near as effective as a tree or branch saw. And I'm not quite sure exactly what the triple hole design is for - other than weight reduction (the tool does have some weight to it). One use did, however, impress me quite a bit - using it as an edger along various types of garden or shrub edging to sever weed runners trying to invade the space. Living in Florida and having St. Augustine grass (Floratam, in our case) - which spreads in runners that can rapidly invade decorative areas - having a tool to sever those runners is really useful. So... PROs: Edging or cutting various grass or weed runners. Lightweight cutting or sawing of weeds or some veggie tops. Separating out garden plants, grown from seed or transplants, that need to be thinned. CONs: Not the best "hacking" tool Not the best saw, either I will commend Fiskars, however, for providing a case for the tool. It has multiple sharp edges and reaching into a tool or garden bag without that covering could be quite dangerous. Bottom line, I WOULD recommend it to others (with the limitations noted above).
Seriously, this looks like something you would carry in the jungle!! Definitely a unique tool in that you do much of your cutting and clearing simply by hooking and pulling - the tool does the cutting. Doesn't come all that sharp - so some would want to hone the blade a bit. It does come in one of those stupid plastic packages that is such a pain to open. Comes with a handy cover so you are protected against accidental damage. I didn't try to use this as an edger, but to me it didn't seem like it would do as well at that as simply in clearing, weeding, and pruning. They do make it in larger sizes which would extend your reach and increase your leverage, but for some jobs, the smaller size would work better.
item just barely cut a twig. It doesn't saw well at all either and is a complete waste of money. Contacted the vendor and they wouldn't take it back because I was at 33 days( 3 over return window) It is a crappy product and I wouldn't order it
The tool is NOT sharp, on any of the edges. I tried to saw through a small root and the root won. As for using it to edge grass? Nope.. Useless piece of garden equipment. Oh, and the sheath? It was not possible to snap shut as the snap did not reach the snap button. SAD Fiskars!! BAD Fiskars!!!
