Super heavy duty and built perfectly for a dog scooper if needed.
The Fiskars Xact trowel is one heavy-duty piece of garden equipment. The head of the trowel is impressively big. I was able to move significantly more dirt because the walls of the trowel were higher and able to carry more back and forth. It is also made out of stainless steel so it should not rust. I have not had it long enough to confirm but I trust that it will hold up over time. The handle is thick and feels great in the hand. It is also more comfortable compared to my trowel with a wooden handle. It is soft but not squishy. My only complaint is that the bump on the underside for resting my index finger could be updated. It offered some support but the position seemed a bit odd given that the handle is so long. The hole on the end of the handle is helpful for hanging up the tool in my shed. The edge of the trowel is sharp enough to dig through some dry dirt but not so sharp that it would be dangerous to use. I have enjoyed using this trowel in my garden and I look forward to the next planting season!
Not a lot of products wow me, but this one did. It's a simple trowel, but this thing is STURDY. It looks like they welded the handle to the body of the trowel. In terms of comfort, it's fairly comfortable. There are diamond shaped areas for grip and a hole loop at the end of it for the comfort of hanging it. The trowel is sharp enough to dig through dirt and it feels like(weight wise) it's good quality. I would say it's not too light and not too heavy. It's made of stainless steel so that helps with keeping it from rusting as well. I like that the trowel is deep because you're able to use it for things like cleaning out gutters, gardening, and many other random tasks.
The Xact trowel is a very sturdy trowel that makes gardening so much easier. I am not a very strong person, and this trowel made it easy to pop some bulbs out of a garden bed that is in the ground so that they could be replanted some place else. The trowel enabled me to easily get the whole bulb out of the ground, without harming the bulbs. With the ground being so hard, my other trowel could not dig into the soil. The sharp edge on this trowel went into the ground with little effort, and dug down as deep as I needed to go. I am so happy with this trowel, it really has let me enjoy gardening again. With as hard as the soil is here, it did not bend the trowel when popping the bulb out, so I think it is sturdy enough to last for a lifetime of use, with out bending. This really is an excellent gardening tool.
I ordered this garden trowel expecting a regular garden trowel but what I got is way more than a regular trowel. This trowel is made for business. At first glance you can see how sturdy it is made. When you pick it up you can feel the heft immediately. I have used it only once and I am impressed.
This Fiskars Xact Trowel, Stainless Steel, 1 Piece, Orange and Black works great! We recently converted our backyard from real grass to artificial fake grass but kept the surrounding outer areas of the backyard with its natural dirt and plants so we used this to dig out the and remove the old plants and plant new real plants. This xact trowel works great, it made it extremely easy to quickly to dig up and remove the unwanted plants. We also still have real grass and dirt in the entire front yard so we will be doing the same in the front. Right in front of our house we have a very short brick wall separation where we plant small plants and with the new winter weather coming in a couple of plants have been dying so we are going to dig those old ones up and plant in some new plants. If you're looking for a new xact trowel I highly recommend this one, it works great, is lightweight yet extremely sturdy very well made!
Ok. This is a trowel. What else is there to review? Trowels are very common. But then again it is worth one's while to review this gardening trowel since this shows a much better quality build compared to other trowels in the market today. First, the trowel is roughly 15 inches long which from my observation is a couple of inches longer than others. The handle is eight inches long. This in my opinion gives better handling for homeowner gardeners out there since you can comfortably position your hands anywhere you like. At the end of the handle is the hanging hole and is slightly angle which for me enables you to exert extra effort through your palm should you encounter tough soil and the normal way of digging with a trowel becomes a bit difficult. The blade or fo the “scoop” uninitiated is six inches long and IMO is sufficient for most home gardening needs. It is made of stainless steel with a thicker gauge (not specified) but is definitely better than most sheet metal trowels. This trowel due to the materials used has some heft to it. And since the tang or simply the metal that connects the blade and handle is only one inch long which is actually my preference compare to the common three inches found in others. For me this helps in handling soil better. And lastly the handle material is made of plastic with the lower side made with “rubbery” type of material designed for a better grip. This is overall would be considered “premium” in the realm of trowels. And I would definitely recommend this to others
This trowel has a perfect ergonomic feel when you hold it. The tool has some weight to it (not too heavy, but it feels sturdy) and the shape of the handle is perfect for digging. Due to when I received this product, I haven't been able to use it properly in my garden yet, but I gave it a test drive and it works beautifully. I've bought trowels before that I thought were “the good ones” but I didn't realize how awkward they were to use until I tried this one. The others made my wrists hurt almost immediately and I just thought that's how it was. Background info: I used to use a computer almost all day at work so my wrists aren't great to begin with. This tool just feels a lot better than others I have had and tried in the past. I can very much recommend this.
Light weight yet very strong built, it is a quality product with a comfortable handle and does the job perfectly. I've been using it to get weeds and grass out along the edge of my driveway. I'm very satisfied with this product and definitely recommend.
I recently received the Fiskars Xact Trowel. It is a monster of a hand trowel at 2.50 x 4.00 x 14.63 Inches. It seems well put together with the welds done nicely on the stainless steel head. It has a rubberized grip that I am not too sure of and am not totally comfortable with using. The purpose of the trowel is to dig, pry and turn tough soil. There is nothing in the grip to prevent hand slippage besides the grip being rubber-like. Usually on hand tools like this there is some sort of nub that will give the hand a pressure point to prevent the hand from sliding down the handle and hitting a tool head in a potentially damaging encounter. So, when having a dirty and damp hand on this, I think a user is going to have to be vigilant when using so as not to injure themselves. There should be no problem on loose soil. On tough jobs where having to put some pressure on the grip, watch your hand!
