As a hobbyist baker who spends an inordinate amount of money on ingredients each month, this has become one of my easiest choices to make. This is a great workhorse flour at a fantastic price, and after buying many hundreds of lbs of this flour, I can truly attest to consistency across the product insofar as quality. My only small qualm is the thickness of the packaging, given that it tends to split on moving, and this leads to unnecessary waste, cleanup and frustration. Given that this flour is offered in a 25lb bag size, maybe some additional consideration should be given to its packaging.
Great Value flour seems to do the job just as well as the name brands. I haven't noticed any difference in my baking using this brand, compared any other flour brand. .Buying the 25 lb bag is mainly a convenience thing so I don't have to keep running back to the store. The price is definitely lower when you buy it in bulk, which is nice for the wallet.
Either way you say it, this 25 lb bag of All Purpose flour is a bargain. For less than $10 you get the equivalent of 5 five-pound bags. At two bucks a pop, it's a no-brainer. I bake. I bake bread. I bake a lot of bread. On a daily basis. Oatmeal, baguettes, sourdough boules, sourdough rye, dinner rolls, hot dog and hamburger buns, focaccia, pizza - I am obsessed with bread! Our house smiles when the bread is baking and is almost done. Such an aroma! It is reason enough to buy flour in bulk. There is no better perfume, with the exception of that first whiff of the first cup of coffee of the day. But coffee makes a lousy loaf of bread. Buy this huge sack of ground wheat instead. You are most welcome ;-)
the fact you carry this size so im able to make 30 to 50 homemade really punkin pies for the Walmart employees Thanksgiving dinner next week i also bought lots of gv canned milk ...next is 10 dozen eggs n 25 - 50 lbs of sugar. i may need 2 more crisco shortenings with the 3, I already have. having large sizes helps me with events n it being delivered is a super plus!!! thanks again. Kat Sheldon
Cooks great breads, focaccia, rolls, cakes, cookies and brownies. Can't beat the price - even at BJs Love having bulk flour delivered to my little apartment in Manhattan with free delivery for purchases over $45. Thank you Walmart. Saves me lugging it up 5 floors and on the subway without a car. Love it! BTW, what doesn't fit in the current canister, goes into ziplock bags in the freezer - no infestations and doesn't affect the taste.
I like the value I get when I buy in bulk. My one tiny issue would be since this is clearly not a single serving sized product, maybe consider offering this product with a resealable opening. Drawstrings, Velcro, Ziplock style. I don't really care which, but being able to reseal it so that it retains it's freshness would be useful.
WE use this for our Homemade bread, gravy, cinnamon buns, shoo fly pie and soon at Christmas it will be for gingerbread cookies. I buy the largest bag and store it in a 5 gallon food grade pail. It serves us well as we live in the Country and do not want to be out of basics.
I bake bread two or three times a week and this works well in my recipes. I used to buy the "Better for Bread" flour but find this works just as well if you allow the gluten to form in the dough by mixing longer. The texture of the breads I have made with this have been good and as far as I am concerned it is a good all purpose flour. The value is great. The price is well worth it and I will be purchasing it again.
I am avid walmart shopper I decided to buy this item online because I am unable to get to a store in person but it was shipped with other items and improperly packed and the entire package and its contents were punctured and fell apart by the time it was delivered. Very poor and disappointing packing for shipment but otherwise a good product for the value.
The flour itself is fine. However, I absolutely do not recommend purchasing this for delivery. The 25lb. bag of flour arrived in the original brown sack. As a result, the flour was exposed to whatever because the rolled top of the bag is ripped from the remaining bag. The bag suffered holes because of the ripped top. A plastic bag would be sufficient.
