I have so many uses for Whole Milk and being able to buy it in a dry form has been a win.. My refrigerator is tiny so ...this has been much mor convenient than buying Gallons of Milk..has a really creamy taste...works great with cold coffees... making cheese ..making steam milk bread..I use up 2 bags a month
i usually buy Nido, but i bought this instead bc it's more affordable. It tastes the same. i always keep this on hand, for when I'm cooking and don't have fresh milk on hand. I'm not crazy about the taste of powdered milk for drinking by itself, but i will cook with it, make yogurt with it, and make chocolate milk and hot cocoa with it, coffee milk, or maybe eat it on cereal... it's not bad but it doesn't taste like fresh milk...
It's great to find a store brand version of dry powdered milk that isn't a non-fat variety. I use milk occasionally, and never to drink, so buying a carton of fresh milk is a waste. I don't think there was a time in my entire life I finished a thing of milk before it went bad. Powdered is the only way to go for me. I can mix up any amount I need for a recipe, or the once every couple of year instance where I have a bowl of cereal. This version tastes great, no waste (I store in freezer), and it's economical to boot.
I mix this powder by boiling the water and pouring it on top of the powder mixing extremely well and then putting it into the refrigerator overnight before using it. we use it on everything from cooking to even eating cereal or making chocolate milk to drink making it this way keeps it from having an odd powdered milk taste. with the convenience of such a long shelf life and minimal waste it actually becomes more economical to purchase rather than a gallon of regular milk that might go bad before using it all
Got this because I don't drink much milk but need it for cooking. I like that I can make up just what is needed without wasting extra. It smells and tastes just like regular milk from a jug and doesn't have the nasty smell and taste of the lowfat version. It mixes smooth and makes a nice substitute for coffee creamer. It seems to work best when made up the night before and kept in the fridge for a few hours before use.
I grew up on dry milk, living in Alaska it was too expensive to buy ready made milk, so we used dry milk for a everything. I don't remember the milk we made tasting like fish. When I opened the bag it smelt like milk, but the taste was of fish. Really weird.
My bag arrived with a small hole in it. I don't know if it went off because of that, or if it normally smells/tastes the way my bag does, but I just find it unpleasant to use. It has a strong, stale odor and an undesirable taste to match. I thought I'd pay a little extra and get a richer, better product, but I'm just going to stick with regular, more affordable powdered milk in the future.
Doesn't taste good. It's quite disgusting. I couldn't even drink 1 cup. It is a pity I have already opened it so I couldn't return it. It's going straight to the garbage. Please spend more money for better brand such as Horizon. I have tried the Horizon Dry Milk and it taste good compare to this brand.
This doesn't taste like only whole milk. It doesn't taste like the Nestlé Nido brand whole Milk powder. I was really excited that I may have found a cheaper option but not if it doesn't taste right. (I may not be right but it seems like it also has some other milk powder in it like soy. maybe from when the machines are being switched from one to the other?)
I really think something is wrong with this milk powder. I noticed a lot of people said the same thing, it just taste rancid and terrible. It even smells terrible. I had to throw away the yogurt I made with it because I just couldn't eat it and I tried. I had high hopes for this milk powder because the price was decent and since it was at Walmart it made it even that more convenient.
