So easy, yet so good! Our family dislikes the sweet versions of cornbread that seem to be so popular, and this mix passes the non-sweet meter test. In addition to the ingredients listed on the box, I added a half of a small can of diced green chiles and a handful of grated cheddar, and sprinkled the top of the batter with a little chili powder. I baked it in the larger muffin tin cups (greased with some olive oil) for about 22 min. Soft and yummy!
This is by far the best cornbread I've ever tasted! It's not too sweet or bland. It also doesn't have too much baking soda or baking powder like so many recipes do, which gives them a weird aftertaste. I've used this to make cornbread dressing and it turned out perfect.
I absolutely love this specific brand of cornbread. Krusteaz is like way way better than all the other box brands. Seriously! It comes out moist and still bakes with a crispy crust! I even make it in muffins. We usually prefer making it on a thin sheet cake pan so it spreads out and cooks crispier. But still doesn't taste or feel dry. Honestly I can't eat my beef stew without it🤭 warm with a little butter. If you prefer fluffy I would say use a muffin pan. They look so pretty like cupcakes. Taste delicious too. Keeping a box of these in the pantry during winter is a must lol
This is our go to brand, great favor. Easy to cook. Just add some butter and you're good to go or even some honey and butter on top. My boyfriend usually doesn't like cornbread but this he will eat.
Well ya it is good by the time you add an egg, milk and butter. Think Jiffy would be as good if you had to add all of that too!! So yes, it tasted good... little too moist for my taste perhaps; every one has their own personal taste and likes. My husband wasn't overly impressed; he didn't seem to notice it was a different brand. I think most people would find it pleasing; it was recommended by my neighbor and I use other Krusteaz products and like them. So will give it five stars as was good.
You do have to have milk, eggs and butter for this mix but it is definitely worth it. Wonderful texture, wonderful taste, not sugary at all (and where did that idea come from anyway - sugar in cornbread???) I'm from Alabama originally and this is more like the cornbread my mom used to make. One box makes 6 huge muffins or 12 small one. I made the 6 huge ones. Tasted great.
This cooks up so good that it is not dry but moist. My family loves it when they know I am cooking Krusteaz.
I bought this mix because most of the reviews said it wasn’t sweet but I should have read the ingredients first because it does contain sugar and yellow cornmeal, which is naturally sweet compared to white cornmeal. Otherwise, it’s very good and has a nice texture. I like it much better than Jiffy Mix because it doesn’t taste as sweet.
Has bioengineered ingredients. Didn't catch that when I ordered online. Otherwise krustaez is a good brand.
This cornbread mix was awful. The Krusteaz Mix with honey was very good, but way too sweet, so I thought I'd try this Southern style. Yuk. The texture is grainy and dry, it didn't rise very high, and the flavor was awful. I threw it all away.
