I find Libby's has the freshest picked and canned vegetables of any other brand. Even the color is more vibrant than off brands and many named brands out there. If you by in pack of four they usually break even with the other brands that include stalks in the can
Okay, be sure it says "Farm Fresh Goodness!" on the label. And that's no lie! It's better than ANY other canned corn that I've ever had. It's as though I went out to Grandma's garden and picked the corn myself. Do not bother getting any other brand; there is seriously no comparison. You're welcome!
This is a good quality corn it tastes fresh picked. I love it. Lately I've been using this to make a Mexican street corn dish. I drain it really well and fry it with a little butter add some paprika and mayo and cheese and Holy Cow I tell myself to only eat half the can but I end up eating the whole can every time it's so delicious. I also love this corn on my mashed potatoes. I've also used it in salads and sometimes I throw it into canned soups with other vegetables. I always have this in my cupboard. It's great to have stock piled for the winter in case I get snowed in and lost my power because I can eat this cold and it's not bad.
I love the Libby sweet corn because it has a great flavor and texture. They have great quality control and there's never any weird bits from the cob that make its way into my can. The cherry on top is the pop top lid, no need to break out the can opener and spill corn juice all over your countertop. I use this as a side, or part of a dish. I love this brand for taco soup and white chicken chili. I find that the texture and taste just hold up better than other brands or frozen corn.
The Kenyan man and woman won the Elite class of the Boston Marathon this year. The Kenyans and Africans seem to be the best in years past too So I am still including CORN in my nutrition Carbs with fiber Corn might be a staple in Kenya and other parts of Africa
Worth paying a few cents more for this brand. Corn is crisp and sweet, snd slightly salty. Very fresh taste. Cheaper brands I have chosen had an odd taste.
Is canned corn better than fresh corn on the cob? No. Is it better than frozen corn? By leaps and bounds. I love the juicy sweetness of canned corn and how it pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes. Is there anything more American?
Given that very very few will exactingly remove kernel corn from a fresh ear of corn most will use either frozen fresh or canned fresh kernel corn. Since either won't attain a full 5-stars I'd rate this 4.5-stars. With that said, The Libby's brand of canned whole kernel corn contains plump firm kernels. There's no added sugar so chefs will need to add a bit when preparing. The can net weight is 0.25oz more than the GV canned corn and contains 20mg more sodium than a can of GV; that's 6% more. Overall in comparison, versus the Walmart store brand (Great Value), the Libby's is slightly better quality, however, once prepared most won't notice the difference from GV corn. Thus the shopper needs to decide if the nearly double price is worth the expense. The Libby's from the can is 10 calories lower per serving but the difference is in the added sugar which will equal out once a small amount of sugar is added to preparation (since harvested corn sugars turn to starch very quickly. In using both brands our picky, vegetable and just regular eaters haven't really noticed any difference. Only the one very discerning eater (myself as home chef) can discern the just more than slightly better quality. Save your money and purchase the GV brand unless you want the small quality difference or prefer blander no sugar added (or if sugar consumption is an issue) should you not prepare with 1/4 tblsp of sugar. Obviously during the season freshly picked whole ears of corn will surpass frozen or canned kernel corn. Since we can't always obtain such a can of Libby's whole kernel corn is a decent choice albeit more expensive than good quality store brands.
The kernels in this corn are fresh, tasty and have a slight crunch that releases the burst of flavor that comes from fresh, on the cob corn. I love it when combined in a soup with other veggies and chili flavors.
I didn't get sweet corn this isn't sweet corn
