Lodge Cast Iron 5 Quart Seasoned Double Dutch Oven / Bread Oven

Very heavy, durable and great for preppers. Can be used on the stove top, in the oven, on a barbecue or on an open fire/camp fire!!! I like how you can use the lid as a baking dish and bake bread in it as well as cook beans, stews, etc. Great value for the price!!!

I returned this item, so my comments are based on several other Lodge items I have purchased and its appearance. Reason for return was weight of item. Way too heavy for me to handle carefully and safely.

Love this pot. Although it says it’s seasoned, it isn’t ready to cook in yet. After researching cast iron, I will need to take some time to smooth and re-season property for a non stick finish.

This is extremely versatile and efficient. I have made chili, soups, whole chicken and even baked bread in the dutch oven. I use the lid skillet for sautéing and browning all ingredients. It is the best piece of cookware you can buy, and much cheaper than the designer cookware you will find at more expensive gourmet cooking supply stores.

Lodge is the best cast iron cookware and it's made right here in the USA. I've married this dutch oven! Yes, in love I tell you! Seriously, this is one of the best dutch ovens Lodge makes. All their cast iron is wonderful but what I particularly like about this one is the lid can be used as a skillet. Also, the lid will fit some other cast iron skillets as well.

I had never had a cast iron pan before but found a no-knead bread recipe that needed a pan that could take a temp of 450 in the oven and recommended a cast iron pan. I was always worried that I wouldn't know how to pre-treat and/or wash the pan, afraid I would end up with a rusty bucket. How wrong I was. Lodge cast iron cookware comes pre-treated and ready to go. Lots of info is included on its care and storage. I chose this particular item for its versatility. The top is also a frying pan. Now I am making yummy, crusty bread. And the best part? Lodge items are MADE IN AMERICA.

i especially like that the lid doubles as a skillet or baking dish!!!...i made chili in the pot and bacon+swiss cheese cornbread in the lid...one thing i learned from the food network channel >>> preheat the lid in the oven before adding cornbread mixture as it creates a more delicious crust !!!...also. care for cast iron properly and it will last for generations!!!

I LOVE that I can finally bake my bread in a Dutch oven without plopping in the dough in such a way that it rubs on the sides of the pan. Now my loaves look prettier. It's a nice bonus that I can flip the oven over and use for other foods. Well worth the cost. (I have other Lodge products and they last for years and years.)

It's probably the best cookware I ever bought...it holds the heat in...I roasted a whole chicken outside on the grill with it...it was the best I ever cooked...it will last a lifetime...I now purchased the deep fryer with the lid because I won't use anything else...it's totally non stick....I love it!!!!!!
