“Best Cast Iron Cookware Ever”

Brenda June 8, 2026

I've used Lodge Cast Iron Cookware for years and continue to be impressed by its performance. My Lodge Cast Iron 5-Quart Seasoned Double Dutch Oven, along with my other Lodge pieces, is incredibly versatile thanks to its dual-purpose design. I regularly use my cast iron cookie sheets, Dutch ovens, roasters, pans, grills, pots, and lids in multiple ways depending on what I'm cooking. What stands out most is how easy it is to achieve excellent results at home. The pre-seasoned surfaces improve with use, provide reliable nonstick performance, and makes cleanup simple. The craftsmanship is exceptional—heavy-duty, durable, and built to last for generations. They truly feels like heirloom-quality cookware. If you're serious about cast iron cooking, I recommend Lodge Cast Iron Cookware. It has become the most valuable and daily used tools in my kitchen.

Durable, heavy, should last a lifetime!!!

Susan May 21, 2026

Very heavy, durable and great for preppers. Can be used on the stove top, in the oven, on a barbecue or on an open fire/camp fire!!! I like how you can use the lid as a baking dish and bake bread in it as well as cook beans, stews, etc. Great value for the price!!!

Love this pot. Although it says it’s seasoned, it isn’t ready to cook in yet. After researching cast iron, I will need to take some time to smooth and re-season property for a non stick finish.

I returned this item, so my comments are based on several other Lodge items I have purchased and its appearance. Reason for return was weight of item. Way too heavy for me to handle carefully and safely.

Great Dutch Oven with skillet lid

KarlaK May 26, 2016

I have many enameled cast iron dutch ovens & cook exclusively in them or in Lodge cast iron. Cannot beat the taste, performance and peace of mind that chemicals are not leaching into your food. Very convenient to go from stove to oven or even the grill or campfire. A few years ago I was intimidated to use real cast iron. It's easy, lodge provides the directions, just follow them. Also satisfied with Wal Mart for fast shipping and products were packaged well to prevent damage.

Must have in kitchen

Jrockthahouse February 9, 2014

This is extremely versatile and efficient. I have made chili, soups, whole chicken and even baked bread in the dutch oven. I use the lid skillet for sautéing and browning all ingredients. It is the best piece of cookware you can buy, and much cheaper than the designer cookware you will find at more expensive gourmet cooking supply stores.

GREAT for making artisan bread

carol October 21, 2020

I LOVE that I can finally bake my bread in a Dutch oven without plopping in the dough in such a way that it rubs on the sides of the pan. Now my loaves look prettier. It's a nice bonus that I can flip the oven over and use for other foods. Well worth the cost. (I have other Lodge products and they last for years and years.)

Excellent

TIKIBABY August 1, 2016

It's probably the best cookware I ever bought...it holds the heat in...I roasted a whole chicken outside on the grill with it...it was the best I ever cooked...it will last a lifetime...I now purchased the deep fryer with the lid because I won't use anything else...it's totally non stick....I love it!!!!!!

LODGE Double Dutch Oven is great concept

Boni July 22, 2016

Have used lid as skillet to cook hashbrowns with great results, did not stick & cleaning was easy. Plan to make artisan bread soon which is main reason I bought this pot/lid. It is quite heavy, but retains heat very well. I picked this up @ the store to save shipping costs & it arrived in good condition tho only in box from manufacturer. According to some reviews, handles were broken or pot was cracked, so I inspected before leaving pick up desk, all was in good condition. I did wash with hot water & oiled with spray before use. So far I am pleased with this purchase.

This is exactly as described on line.

slumberbliss April 14, 2014

We were looking for a cast iron Dutch oven and debated between this one and the Enamel covered type. This was inexpensive and perfect for making a pot roast. Just cant go wrong with cast iron. It is also pre seasoned, I washed with hot soapy water, dried thoroughly, and sprayed with olive oil. No problems with food sticking. We will use this for years to come!!
