Lodge Cast Iron Seasoned Double Play Reversible Grill/Griddle

I have another one of the griddles I bought elsewhere so I know the quality and the price.I bought this one on Walmart.com at a great price with free shipping as part of a multiple item order!You can't beat it!

I have a lot of cast iron cookware, a lot of it some very old Lodge ware. Lodge has always made a great product and I look for the label when making new purchases. This griddle was used over a gas barbeque grill, and worked perfectly. Another great Lodge product!

I did my research before ordering it. Walmart had the cheapest price. It is heavy, but will last me a lifetime. Great for grilling sandwiches, cooking pancakes, sausages and bacon! I love that it has a reversible side for grilling fish and meat. I just wash it with soapy water, rinse, and wipe some olive oil into it to keep it seasoned for the next time. The company has been around since the late 1800's. I think it's a fantastic product and highly recommend it!

I left the griddle on the stove until it got very hot before I cooked steaks and they looked great. The cast iron distributes the heat evenly on the surface so the meat cook at the same rate on any part of the griddle. In my case I have to be careful because I have a glass-ceramic smooth cook top and the griddle slides a bit when you try to move or turn the meat. I have to be very careful so that the surface does not get scratched. I think this would be great on a gas stove.

This is the perfect item I needed to add to my camping equipment. I haven't tried it yet at a camp site over an open wood fire. But works great using gas burners. Just have to be patient to heat up. However, the manufacturer should enclose a booklet that shows the different ways to utilize this product and proper care and things to avoid. Most griddle/skillets also have a modest "Cookbook" like the Lodge Camp Dutch Oven has included. I really recommend this item as top notch.

A lot more manageable than the 16 pound one and very little surface area difference...the design allows for more cooking room because the little handles are in either corner, not along each end. Learn how to use it before hand. Allow to heat up but don't keep it on high and use extra grease until you learn what sticks and what doesn't. Food is cooking quickly on the underside so a lower heat will avoid burning and ruining the seasoning.

I absolutely love this griddle. I use it at least twice a week for restaurant quality pancakes and french toast. It's cast iron so it really doesn't get any better. You can make 6 pancakes at the same time but I often just just make three at a time to allow room for flipping. I have never used the grill side.

I got this with the hope of using it to make breakfast. I can say this it is non stick if you remember to season it after every use. The size is great can cook a pound of bacon on it. Cooking french toast is a breeze and it holds six of them at one time. The grill side worked great but have only done burgers on it so far.

I love the fact that its already seasoned, you could use it right away. Cleaning is easy. It's heavy, as you would expect of cast iron, so I leave it on my stovetop all the time. I haven't grilled on it yet, but used the smooth part to make lots of pancakes, and grilled cheese. My pancakes actually come out better. Tried to make scrambled eggs on it, but it was a bit messy. I blame that on my inexperience in using a flat griddle. Also, my double burners are different sizes, so I have to manipulate the flame a bit. Other than that, I love this item.

The cast iron griddle heats evenly and retains heat. However the lip is only about 1/8" tall and the 2 corners for lifting are too small to grab and pick up, especially with hot pan holders. The small lip only hold so little grease that you have to remove hamburger patties, bacon, sausage, etc., and pour off the hot grease very carefully as not to spill. Then replace the meat and continue cooking all without spilling the grease or burning yourself on the hot griddle. Works well for pancakes and toast, just not any meat that has a lot of grease. Wish I had bought the baking pan instead, but it clearly states not for stove top.
