Just buy it! Stop scrolling and comparing blue corn flours because this is it. This is my first time actually purchasing blue corn flour for at home recipes. I initially purchased it because I was going on a strict diet that would prohibit eating certain tortilla shells. I did some research and decided this would be a healthy way to keep tortillas in my life. You can use this flour for so much more tortillas. I've used it for pancakes, waffles and even home made burger buns. When you use the corn flour for bread recipes you may want to add some regular flour for a more bread like texture vs the corn taste texture. Otherwise, this is so great - I highly recommend it.
The masa gets a little sticky if you add too much water. I actually mix this with the regular maseca because I want it to last longer because the bag is smaller than the regular maseca. I buy this, the yellow maseca and the regular one because they are all great.
Love Masa Brosa's blue corn flour. Much better than Maseca's and less expensive. The bags could be sturdier, but they all use the same sorts of bags. Every once in a great while (about one bag in 50 or so) I get one that tastes different and probably has too high a concentration of calcium hydroxide (also called Cal and hydrated lime) that I have to bring back to Walmart for a refund.
I will say that I did mix this with some yellow corn flour, but just because I didn't want it so blue. These made some of the best tortillas I've made. I am a bit of a novice, but when the whole family eats them and wants more, I call it a win!
Awesome flavor great tasting easy to
ya hecha la tortilla. Si le pones limon Si Queda de color rosa...👍
My tortillas turned out good with this blue masa..
tortillas really good
i like the taste
I always hope this will improve things, I do not enjoy not giving a less than up to par review, but that is not in good faith to not mention both polarities. Was very much looking forward to cornbread but the birds got a good treat anyway! The packaging was iffy, and small. Bugs are always something to consider especially weevils in flour. Where I unfolded the glued top there was flour on the outside of packaging and throughout as if the conveyer slaps it shut too quickly. That gets in the goods when putting in a half gallon sealed jar where all nearly fit without tamping it. I have to say, and I have a very clean and healthy palette, that it tasted old. I hesitated because it came from DC ( via Dallas, Mexico) from RP, but I trust imports, especially from Mexico. It was only a few bucks, I think I will go the extra expense for organic. Blue organic corn is pricey. Corn is definitely one of the dirty dozen, best to be strictly organic in that list. Do the best we can for us and others who eat what is served and don't do the shopping. The flour was so fine it was paste to work with. I like more artisan where it is between fine and course. Research!
