I returned a TP-link equivalent that cost more and did not meet my hopes (not expectations, because the available descriptions were not very thorough. I already had an earlier Netgear router and a variety of extenders and this fill the need easily (big house; three apartments). Like the earlier Netgear, it let me set up three subnets with their own passwords so each apartment had one or two channels, including the 2.4 MHz for things like door locks and lights, and the 5.6 MHz and 6MHz for streaming. Pretty neat for a 1905 house (although it had been built with battery-operated gas lights and a remote door lock so the people in the upper unit didn't have to come down to open the ground floor door) and the little black boxes fit in better than the old router and extender.
Title: Netgear Nighthawk WiFi mesh system Description: I needed to upgrade our old Netgear WiFi system. Even though our old Netgear system still worked perfectly on our main floor, it was not keeping up in our basement, even with extenders. Instead of renting WiFi equipment from our internet provider, I decided to go ahead and upgrade our personal system. The new mesh system worked perfectly as soon as I installed it, and I can now stream tv in our basement with zero buffering. The new mesh system was easy to install.
Okay, according to xfinity, my wifi with these installed is booming. But the installation directions sucked. When coupled with the xfinity wifi modem, it was different than what you had in the direction. It took me over an hour to finally figure it out. Now, all 3 are up and running. if my xfinity repairman hadn't told me where to plug it in the HDMI . In the back of the xfinity modem. I would have never figured it out because your hdmI installation directions were wrong directions for xfinity's modem.
Was advised by installer to purchase a pod system to aid in sending signals to ancillary building about 100' feet from where router located. Did not need anything additional like Ethernet cable so it all got connected and is working great. Lower price than Amazon and was received same day as ordered. Highly recommended
Description: Absolutely love the Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi System. It has an excellent range, while my regular modem is just fair. No more constant spinning. Highly recommend!
I love this wifi system it works great for what my parents and I need it for with our new home we have not had any issues and set up was quick and easy
BE SURE TO USE THE APP TO INSTALL. FIRST 2 TIMES THE APP DID NOT COMPLETE. THE 3RD TIME WAS A CHARGE GET THE MESH FOR A EXCELLENT CONNECTION ALL OVER YOUR HOUSE
Had issues setting up. The Nighthawk mobile app refused to connect with the MESH router. After connecting my mobile to the default login SSIS and credential, on the router's bottom label, I had to go to the router admin page and manually assign: * Admin (management) password * 2 security questions (for tighter authentication) Once that was completed, had to continue using the admin page to: * Update the firmware (it detected %26 prompted accordingly). * Register the hardware with Netgear (I already had a login credential from prior years). Once that completed, the app was able to connect with the MESH router and its 2 satellites. The MAIN point here: Walmart is selling 4 year old hardware, according to the Netgear Support Rep who assisted with this setup and gave me that info based on the device's Serial Number. In the tech world, this is a LONG time to age. I would NOT purchase a 4 yr old LAPTOP, for example. Walmart should be more transparent with such info.
Economical mesh routers for no-frills expansion. But very limited. Each unit has only one Ethernet output, and only the main unit has an Ethernet input (no hardwiring of satellites). No option to choose between 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz networks, only Guest for a unique network. PS4 doesn't like connecting so it's getting a wired connection from one of the satellites. Otherwise it has improved our connectivity and latency but it isn't a very flexible system. Somewhat easy to set up.
Don't let it power down once its plugged in. first power out and this thing is fried. I unplugged it to put on a shelf instead of my floor, now I can't connect to it with anything. I've had it 3 months.
