Norpro 8.75-Inch Cast Iron Bacon Press with Wood Handle, Round

On a whim, my wife unexpectedly bought a7 x 3" rectangular grill press to see if we could make paninis at home. The first attempt was successful, so I researched the subject online and discovered that there was a hidden field of cookware I knew nothing about. After watching videos and doing a little research, I selected and ordered the Norpro 9" round press, mainly because of its wooden handle, less likely to to be prone to overheating. (Other brands use coiled metal). I was not disappointed. Instructions for care and seasoning were provided, which I followed, and I have been using the press regularly and successfully, several times a week. I continue to experiment with different breads, skillet temperatures and cooking times to perfect my result.

Bought this one for my daughter because she loved mine, which I had for over 10 years, when she used it.

This cast iron grill press works great with a 10" iron skillet. I have been looking for one a long time. Delivery was fast.

The bacon press is similar to a cast iron skillet. Nice and heavy and does it's job well.

I have been looking for one of these for a while and just couldn't find one that I liked. This was exactly what I was wanting in quality, price, and the convenience of purchasing online. The handle is rounded for an easy grip with a nice cast iron grill bottom and a cute pig on the top. This will sit on my stove it is THAT nice (ok, the pig got to me!)

It was a gift for my son-in-law and he was very happy with it . He especially like the handle does not get hot . He would recommend it to others.

good balance to weight. fits well in my 12'' cast-iron skillet. though I would caution everyone to be mindful of upright metal wood handle attached to. I can get quite hot. kept all my bacon in contact with skillet for nice flat crispy bacon.

It is a great press , it seems that it can be used for pretty much anything that you would need a press for. It is the only one that I have ever seen with ridges on the bottom instead of being flat. The real reason I got it was because I have been looking for one that has the wooden handle. I gave one as a gift and the receiver thought it was really nice looking as well as useful. With the price already at $25 then adding in shipping it did get on the more expensive side of the price range I was looking for however. That is the reason for the lower rating.

Worked well. Fits great in round pan. Handle stays cool but watch out you don't touch the sides by accident, they get hot. Only issue is if you are cooking something else in the pan you don't want flattened. If only cooking bacon it works great. Tried cooking bacon and sausage and I didn't want the sausage squashed. That is when a rectangular one would be more useful.
