I ordered this for my "bonus kiddo" and he absolutely LOVED it! He has spent many hours playing with this - away from his tablet - so I'm giving it 5 stars!
This made me the hero of the day. My grandson jumped right in and began assembling robots. They work great and he has had lots of fun assembling and playing with these toys. I could wish they were a little larger, but then the pricetag would have been larger, too. The small size did not deter him at all.
Saw the same kit at the museum for $40. Walmart's price of $24 was much better!!!
My 10 year old had a lot of fun building this with his dad. Very challenging and educational
Great concept...poor execution. This is not a very strong solar product. When held up to light, it barely moves. Instructions are poor. It takes way too much concentration to put it together with bad instructions. However, my son likes the product and he wants to continue putting all the robots together although it does not really work.
I like the idea, but I think the price is a bit high. After I purchased it I was reading some of the reviews and was disappointed by people saying the solar panel doesn't work too well. I bought this as a Christmas present and am hoping it won't be a huge disappointment. I do like the fact that there a 14 different configurations to build. Hopefully that will be exciting for my grandchild. I just really want that solar panel to work.
didnt keep my 8 year interested long. very nice. 8 yr old put it down after 2 hours
I put the solar robot together by the instructions, then when I was ready to use it I went outside in the sun. The motors were moving but when I placed it on the concrete it was not moving at all. I have to return this robot and get a different one because it does not work. I do not know if my own just had problems.
My son and I helped youngest son put the basic robot together. It will not move. with a very bright flashlight, we could get the motor spinning on its own but once housed in the box with gears connected, it just sits there. We must have disassembled and reassembled it 5 times to make sure gears were not binding. All looks well and it will not move or even try to turn. Save your money.
Me (Mom) and my 8 yr old daughter put the main solar part together following the instructions step by step. We first started with separating all the pieces into their bags. There were labels and zip lock bags provided for all the pieces you will have to pull apart off of a plastic holder. If you have ever put together a model car you know what I mean. Okay, so once that was all done, we reached for the pieces for the main solar part that is going to make your robots go. I made sure to remove all the sticks that may have been left on when I pulled them off the plastic holder. There is only pictures to follow, no words, so we just had to make sure our model looked like the picture in the manual. Pieces did snap together pretty easily. Unfortunately the day we did it rained, so I tried putting it up to the strongest light bulb in the house and the wheels moved a little bit and then stopped. I even tried letting it sit under the bulb for about an hour thinking this would charge the solar panel to no luck. I have taken it apart twice and put it back together the exact same way as manual and still wheels only move for a few seconds than stop. The rest of the pieces are easy to put together to make the different robots, but the reason we got this product is to see it move and it doesn't. My daughter felt real accomplishment to be able to put the robot together herself once the main solar part was together but was disappointed that it didn't move. If your okay that it may not move than the kids will still have fun just putting it together on their own.
