I was already prescribed a daily dose of 2000 IU, don't get a lot of sun and don't always eat right. Because I already had low levels of Vitamin D3, I was given the go-ahead by my doctor. 50,000 IU Vitamin D3 is a lot for the average person. I suggest you should contact your doctor first. Here is some more information from the Mayo Clinic: Overview Vitamin D is necessary for building and maintaining healthy bones. That's because calcium, the primary component of bone, can only be absorbed by your body when vitamin D is present. Your body makes vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin (calciferol). Vitamin D isn't found in many foods, but you can get it from fortified milk, fortified cereal, and fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines. The amount of vitamin D your skin makes depends on many factors, including the time of day, season, latitude and your skin pigmentation. Depending on where you live and your lifestyle, vitamin D production might decrease or be completely absent during the winter months. Sunscreen, while important, also can decrease vitamin D production. Many older adults don't get regular exposure to sunlight and have trouble absorbing vitamin D, so taking a multivitamin with vitamin D will likely help improve bone health. The recommended daily amount of vitamin D is 400 international units (IU) for children up to age 12 months, 600 IU for ages 1 to 70 years, and 800 IU for people over 70 years. Evidence Research on vitamin D use for specific conditions shows: Cancer. Research suggests that vitamin D, especially when taken with calcium, might help prevent certain cancers. Cognitive health. Early research suggests that vitamin D might play a role in cognitive health. In one small study of adults age 60 years and older being treated for dementia, researchers found that taking a vitamin D supplement helped improve cognitive function. Inherited disorders. Vitamin D supplements can be used to help treat inherited disorders resulting from an inability to absorb or process vitamin D, such as familial hypophosphatemia. Multiple sclerosis. Research suggests that long-term vitamin D supplementation reduces the risk of multiple sclerosis. Osteomalacia. Vitamin D supplements are used to treat adults with severe vitamin D deficiency, resulting in loss of bone mineral content, bone pain, muscle weakness and soft bones (osteomalacia). Osteoporosis. Studies suggest that people who get enough vitamin D and calcium in their diets can slow bone mineral loss, help prevent osteoporosis and reduce bone fractures. Psoriasis. Applying vitamin D or a topical preparation that contains a vitamin D compound called calcipotriene to the skin can treat plaque-type psoriasis in some people. Rickets. This rare condition develops in children with vitamin D deficiency. Supplementing with vitamin D can prevent and treat the problem. Our take Green light: Generally safe Generally safe Without vitamin D your bones can become soft, thin and brittle. Insufficient vitamin D is also connected to osteoporosis and some types of cancer. If you don't get enough vitamin D through sunlight or dietary sources, you might need vitamin D supplements. Safety and side effects Taken in appropriate doses, vitamin D is generally considered safe. However, taking too much vitamin D can be harmful. Children age 9 years and older, adults, and pregnant and breast-feeding women who take more than 4,000 IU a day of vitamin D might experience: Nausea Vomiting Poor appetite Constipation Weakness Weight loss Confusion Disorientation Heart rhythm problems Kidney damage Interactions Possible interactions include: Aluminum. Taking vitamin D and aluminum-containing phosphate binders long term might cause harmful levels of aluminum in people with kidney failure. Anticonvulsants. The anticonvulsants phenobarbital and phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek) increase the breakdown of vitamin D and reduce calcium absorption. Atorvastatin (Lipitor). Taking vitamin D might affect the way your body processes this cholesterol drug. Calcipotriene (Dovonex). Don't take vitamin D with this psoriasis drug. The combination might increase the risk of too much calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia). Cholestyramine (Prevalite). Taking this weight-loss drug can reduce your absorption of vitamin D. Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) substrates. Use vitamin D cautiously if you're taking drugs processed by these enzymes. Digoxin (Lanoxin). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this heart medication. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which increases the risk of fatal heart problems with digoxin. Diltiazem (Cardizem, Tiazac). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this blood pressure drug. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which might reduce the drug's effectiveness. Orlistat (Xenical, Alli). Taking this weight-loss drug can reduce your absorption of vitamin D. Thiazide diuretics. These blood pressure drugs might decrease urinary calcium excretion. This could lead to hypercalcemia if you are taking vitamin D. Steroids. Taking steroid mediations such as prednisone can reduce calcium absorption and impair your body's processing of vitamin D. Stimulant laxatives. Long-term use of high doses of stimulant laxatives can reduce vitamin D and calcium absorption. Verapamil (Verelan, Calan). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this blood pressure drug. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which might reduce the drug's effectiveness.

A great addition to my vitamin regimen!

GreySeahorsey August 2, 2020

I was excited to find a vitamin D capsule that I only had to take once a week. The capsule is vegetable-based so it is vegan friendly. It is non-GMO and it's made in the USA! Lots of people are vitamin D deficient and don't even realize it. Vitamin D is very important for the absorption of calcium for healthy teeth and bones. We get some naturally through the sunshine but most of us, especially in the winter don't absorb enough. This one bottle is a whole year supply. The clear capsules have no flavor or odor and they are easy to swallow. I've decided to take mine on Sundays and I wrote it on my calendar so I remember each week. This is a great way to boost my immune system and I look forward to reaping the health benefits of this vitamin D3 supplement.

Great pills

SMB1986 August 6, 2020

I wanted to wait a while to write a review about these vitamin D3 pills so I could fully experience them. I've been taking regular vitamin D pills for a few years now per doctors orders and and it has gotten a bit tedious trying to remember to take them daily among my other meds I have to take. With this vitamin D3 I only have to take it once a week which has been a huge help. Im already seeing improvement within myself, I have more energy I am less tired throughout the day. With everything going on right now it is a huge plus to have these. It's just the right size so it's not hard to swallow and there is absolutely no aftertaste. I'd highly recommend these vitamins to anyone

Great Product!!!

LovinLife August 1, 2020

I'm on the 2nd week of taking this Vitamin. I tend to start the week taking my meds as I should, but by the end of the week, I forget. So, taking this once a week is pretty awesome! I can't say I have noticed any difference yet, but it's pretty early. But so far so good. I'm really glad I found this product. I really can't think of anything that could be improved. I definitely recommend these for those who don't get enough sunlight or simply low on Vitamin D3. Even though I get plenty of sun, I was still diagnosed with as being deficient in Vitamin D3 and need to take supplements to get my levels back up. Does not have any flavor or after taste, like some vitamins.

Easy to Swallow

TemporaryWaffle August 3, 2020

I wanted to try out the Vitamatic Vitamin D3 supplements, for my husband who tends to have a Vitamin D deficiency, and had been looking for a good, easy fix for his fatigue. Because the pills are so potent, it is said to only take 1 pill one time a week, so you don't over do it on the Vitamin D. We are 2 weeks into taking them so we haven't really noticed a difference, but do want to point out that the pills are easy to swallow and haven't caused any adverse reactions. I suggest taking the pill on the same day, at the same time each week, to get into the routine of taking them. Set an alarm if you need to. (We do every Monday after dinner) One bottle is a 60 day supply so it will last awhile. Hoping to see an improvement soon! * I recieved a complimentary sample in exchange for my honest Review. All opinions my own.

Non-GMO Vitamin D Made in U.S.A.

Angela August 3, 2020

I received the Vitamin D supplement in the mail today. They are no -gmo, veggie caps, and made in the U.S.A. I personally have continual problems with my Vitamin D becoming too low (I request this test each year with yearly bloodwork.). Vitamin D supplementation makes a huge difference in my life and my energy levels. This Vitamin D is to be take once a week which simplifies my need to supplement. I've never had any problems related to digestion of my daily vitamin D and I took my first weekly dose of this vitamin today and all was well digestive wise. I will most definitely purchase this product again! I have low Vitamin D levels and this is a whole year supply in one convenient bottle which is super awesome!

Great deal for the money

Natty33 August 1, 2020

The one thing I do not like about some vitamins is the amount you have to take daily. With Vitamatic Vitamin D3 you only need one capsule, one time a week. That's over a year supply in one bottle. Please always consult with your doctor before taking medicine. I received a bottle free with the Spark Reviewer program.

Vitamin D3 supplement megadose?

bowmanii August 1, 2020

I received this supplement for my spouse as she takes a daily dosage of D3. The packaging is secure with a common plastic bottle, sealed with a heat seal plastic seal and a factory sealed bottle opening underneath the cap. The label on the bottle has very good information, which you do need to read and pay attention to. The white capsules are big, about the size of a normal 1000mg type capsule. This is supposed to be a once a week dosage, 50,000 IU, 1250mcg. Check with your physician, ours said this was to high for the application that is needed. Research shows this dosage spikes high then goes down daily. It doesn't provide a maintenance level and the instructions state NOT for long term use. Though we will not be using these capsules the overall safe packaging and well written instructions seems to say that VITAMATIC packaging shows customer care.
