I was already prescribed a daily dose of 2000 IU, don't get a lot of sun and don't always eat right. Because I already had low levels of Vitamin D3, I was given the go-ahead by my doctor. 50,000 IU Vitamin D3 is a lot for the average person. I suggest you should contact your doctor first. Here is some more information from the Mayo Clinic: Overview Vitamin D is necessary for building and maintaining healthy bones. That's because calcium, the primary component of bone, can only be absorbed by your body when vitamin D is present. Your body makes vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin (calciferol). Vitamin D isn't found in many foods, but you can get it from fortified milk, fortified cereal, and fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines. The amount of vitamin D your skin makes depends on many factors, including the time of day, season, latitude and your skin pigmentation. Depending on where you live and your lifestyle, vitamin D production might decrease or be completely absent during the winter months. Sunscreen, while important, also can decrease vitamin D production. Many older adults don't get regular exposure to sunlight and have trouble absorbing vitamin D, so taking a multivitamin with vitamin D will likely help improve bone health. The recommended daily amount of vitamin D is 400 international units (IU) for children up to age 12 months, 600 IU for ages 1 to 70 years, and 800 IU for people over 70 years. Evidence Research on vitamin D use for specific conditions shows: Cancer. Research suggests that vitamin D, especially when taken with calcium, might help prevent certain cancers. Cognitive health. Early research suggests that vitamin D might play a role in cognitive health. In one small study of adults age 60 years and older being treated for dementia, researchers found that taking a vitamin D supplement helped improve cognitive function. Inherited disorders. Vitamin D supplements can be used to help treat inherited disorders resulting from an inability to absorb or process vitamin D, such as familial hypophosphatemia. Multiple sclerosis. Research suggests that long-term vitamin D supplementation reduces the risk of multiple sclerosis. Osteomalacia. Vitamin D supplements are used to treat adults with severe vitamin D deficiency, resulting in loss of bone mineral content, bone pain, muscle weakness and soft bones (osteomalacia). Osteoporosis. Studies suggest that people who get enough vitamin D and calcium in their diets can slow bone mineral loss, help prevent osteoporosis and reduce bone fractures. Psoriasis. Applying vitamin D or a topical preparation that contains a vitamin D compound called calcipotriene to the skin can treat plaque-type psoriasis in some people. Rickets. This rare condition develops in children with vitamin D deficiency. Supplementing with vitamin D can prevent and treat the problem. Our take Green light: Generally safe Generally safe Without vitamin D your bones can become soft, thin and brittle. Insufficient vitamin D is also connected to osteoporosis and some types of cancer. If you don't get enough vitamin D through sunlight or dietary sources, you might need vitamin D supplements. Safety and side effects Taken in appropriate doses, vitamin D is generally considered safe. However, taking too much vitamin D can be harmful. Children age 9 years and older, adults, and pregnant and breast-feeding women who take more than 4,000 IU a day of vitamin D might experience: Nausea Vomiting Poor appetite Constipation Weakness Weight loss Confusion Disorientation Heart rhythm problems Kidney damage Interactions Possible interactions include: Aluminum. Taking vitamin D and aluminum-containing phosphate binders long term might cause harmful levels of aluminum in people with kidney failure. Anticonvulsants. The anticonvulsants phenobarbital and phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek) increase the breakdown of vitamin D and reduce calcium absorption. Atorvastatin (Lipitor). Taking vitamin D might affect the way your body processes this cholesterol drug. Calcipotriene (Dovonex). Don't take vitamin D with this psoriasis drug. The combination might increase the risk of too much calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia). Cholestyramine (Prevalite). Taking this weight-loss drug can reduce your absorption of vitamin D. Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) substrates. Use vitamin D cautiously if you're taking drugs processed by these enzymes. Digoxin (Lanoxin). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this heart medication. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which increases the risk of fatal heart problems with digoxin. Diltiazem (Cardizem, Tiazac). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this blood pressure drug. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which might reduce the drug's effectiveness. Orlistat (Xenical, Alli). Taking this weight-loss drug can reduce your absorption of vitamin D. Thiazide diuretics. These blood pressure drugs might decrease urinary calcium excretion. This could lead to hypercalcemia if you are taking vitamin D. Steroids. Taking steroid mediations such as prednisone can reduce calcium absorption and impair your body's processing of vitamin D. Stimulant laxatives. Long-term use of high doses of stimulant laxatives can reduce vitamin D and calcium absorption. Verapamil (Verelan, Calan). Avoid taking high doses of vitamin D with this blood pressure drug. High doses of vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia, which might reduce the drug's effectiveness.
I was excited to find a vitamin D capsule that I only had to take once a week. The capsule is vegetable-based so it is vegan friendly. It is non-GMO and it's made in the USA! Lots of people are vitamin D deficient and don't even realize it. Vitamin D is very important for the absorption of calcium for healthy teeth and bones. We get some naturally through the sunshine but most of us, especially in the winter don't absorb enough. This one bottle is a whole year supply. The clear capsules have no flavor or odor and they are easy to swallow. I've decided to take mine on Sundays and I wrote it on my calendar so I remember each week. This is a great way to boost my immune system and I look forward to reaping the health benefits of this vitamin D3 supplement.
I wanted to wait a while to write a review about these vitamin D3 pills so I could fully experience them. I've been taking regular vitamin D pills for a few years now per doctors orders and and it has gotten a bit tedious trying to remember to take them daily among my other meds I have to take. With this vitamin D3 I only have to take it once a week which has been a huge help. Im already seeing improvement within myself, I have more energy I am less tired throughout the day. With everything going on right now it is a huge plus to have these. It's just the right size so it's not hard to swallow and there is absolutely no aftertaste. I'd highly recommend these vitamins to anyone
They are capsules instead of the gel caps I'm used to, but they are easy to take don't cause stomach upset and absorb well.
This single bottle has over a years supply. The pills are longgated and easy to swallow. You only need one tablet a week, best taken on the same day each week. I started taken this a few weeks ago. I did not notice any changes on thw first week. The first rime I started noticeing a change was day thirteen. I notice I was gaveing less aches in my joints and bones by the third week I was sleeping better and had no pain in bones and joints. I will continue to take this as it works great. It even helps with control of balance. There have been no sideaffects and I feel much more enerjetic. I want to stress that this is a life changer for me. Pain begone is what I would call it. I highly recomend.
I'm on the 2nd week of taking this Vitamin. I tend to start the week taking my meds as I should, but by the end of the week, I forget. So, taking this once a week is pretty awesome! I can't say I have noticed any difference yet, but it's pretty early. But so far so good. I'm really glad I found this product. I really can't think of anything that could be improved. I definitely recommend these for those who don't get enough sunlight or simply low on Vitamin D3. Even though I get plenty of sun, I was still diagnosed with as being deficient in Vitamin D3 and need to take supplements to get my levels back up. Does not have any flavor or after taste, like some vitamins.
I wanted to try out the Vitamatic Vitamin D3 supplements, for my husband who tends to have a Vitamin D deficiency, and had been looking for a good, easy fix for his fatigue. Because the pills are so potent, it is said to only take 1 pill one time a week, so you don't over do it on the Vitamin D. We are 2 weeks into taking them so we haven't really noticed a difference, but do want to point out that the pills are easy to swallow and haven't caused any adverse reactions. I suggest taking the pill on the same day, at the same time each week, to get into the routine of taking them. Set an alarm if you need to. (We do every Monday after dinner) One bottle is a 60 day supply so it will last awhile. Hoping to see an improvement soon! * I recieved a complimentary sample in exchange for my honest Review. All opinions my own.
Vitamatic Once Weekly Vitamin D3 50,000 IU is a once weekly dose of Vitamin D3. I would suggest consulting a health-care provider before beginning this, or really any, vitamin supplement, as it is a higher dose than usual. This particular supplement is very convenient since it only has to be taken once a week. Given the current pandemic, Vitamin D3 is suggested by many doctors to be taken in conjunction with Vitamin C. I know I've been advised by my health care provider to take it in conjunction with Vitamin C and Zinc as an immune booster. As an educator who could possibly be having to teach from the classroom in the not so distant future, it is imperative that I do what is necessary to boost my immune system so as I can try my best to prevent from getting sick. The benefit of this is one less pill to take on a daily basis. I have felt no noticeable side-effects as I transitioned from the daily dose to a weekly dose. I did stop taking my regular vitamin D3 a week before I began this one, just to be on the safe side. All in all, I would recommend this product for anyone who finds it tedious to take a supplement on a weekly basis or who needs a boost of Vitamin D3 in their system.
I had a physical a little over six months ago. Thankfully everything with me is well but my doctor did let me know that my blood work showed that I was deficient in vitamin D. He recommended that I start taking a vitamin D supplement right away. He said it was absolutely critical for multiple functions like immune health, bone strength, kidney function and even help regulate my mood. As we spend so much more time indoors these days, I think it's critical for us to not overlook our vitamin D intake. I've tried a few different brands but this one is my favorite so far. What I really like about this particular brand is that you only need to take one of these vitamin supplements a week. Each pill contains 50,000 IU of vitamin D so 4 times a month and you are good to go. The pills are tasteless, not very large and are easy to swallow. 60 pills come in the container so they will last you awhile. The veggie capsule has no taste so you can take it with just water and won't be let with an off-putting aftertaste. Really happy overall and would recommend you give them a try.
I really love that there is 50,000 I.U.'s in one capsule because it simplifies the process of vitamin taking. I was taking 10,000 I.U.'s 5 days a week, if I could remember to take them. I greatly appreciate this easy process and now I'll never forget! They are normal size capsules that go down easy. Highly recommend!!
