Wood Link Torpedo Squirrel Baffle

Baffle works great. Squirrels are going nuts because they can't get to the bird seed. Only complaint I have is the sticker they put on the baffle. It's huge and nothing get it all off! (Not even Goo Be Gone). So I have that white, sticky stuff with scrape marks on a black baffle. Looks awful, but will wear off eventually.

Well mde and effective but I had to modify slightly. I had trouble getting the bracket tight enough on the pole to hold the baffle without slipping so I put a hose clamp under the tightened bracket. Also the baffle would swing in the wind and hit the pole scaring birds even in the yard. I made a 5 7/8 inch round of 1/2" wood with a 1" hole (pole diameter) hole in the middle and secured it with a hose clamp. Perfect.

These things are fantastic! Only took a few minutes to install, and the rodents can no longer climb the pole to get to the bird seed. Also I wrote "rodent" because my issue was with rats -- which was as horrifying as it seems. Squirrels are cute: rats, not so much. But the rats cannot get past this awesome torpedo baffle. Also it's very well built and I expect it will last many, many years.

Works as intended, but had to duct tape the fixture so that it wouldn't slide down, even when the screws were fully tightened. It's better looking than the slinky I was using to keep squirrels away.

The quality of the baffle itself is great. However, I had to rate it only a 3 because of the following: First, the clamp screws are not long enough for a 1" pipe, as the ad claims. Thus a trip to the hardware store before I could use. Second, the only clamp is at the top. Therefore it will swing back and forth with the wind and bang on a metal mounting pole. The solution was to cut a 6" circle out of wood, drill a 1" hole in the center, and buy another pipe clamp to go underneath it on the pole. While simple fixes, for $23 I expected more.

In short I would rate this product 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the wide band circumferential paper label is completely glued onto the baffle! I could not remove it simply with a plastic putty knife. I had to place the baffle in a laundry sink filled with hot water, let it sit, then scrape it off piece meal. This was very time consuming, a wasteful use of hot water and left a wide band of glue spoiling the beautiful powder coat finish. Be aware that the baffle does not open up and needs to be slipped over a naked end of the pole. Also of the two I ordered, one was dented. I was able to pound this out with a hammer. Basically a well constructed and functional item but UGH!! So to the company that manufactures this product with Audubon`s endorsement - get it right!!

This baffle is difficult if not impossible to use on a Shepherd Hook pole since it can not slide over the hooks. or the base support prongs. The concept is great. We thought we had found a solution to the squirrel issue. Disappointed.

Product was bent on top. I decided to use the product anyway. Too much of a hassle to return given COVID. Other than that the product suits my needs.
