Bought this because it was on sale. I usually do not buy canned milk however, living alone sometimes even with buying a half gallon of milk some goes to waste before I use it all. I have used this to make the best mashed potatoes, mix it with scrambled eggs, and some really good hot cocoa when we had that last cold snap. It is good in my coffee and probably better than the powder mix I usually use. I forgot how good evaporated milk is. It was very handy to have on hand. You can add water if you feel it is too thick and chill for drinking. We always had evaporated milk in our kitchen when I was growing up now I remember why!
I used Nestlé Carnation Vitamin D Added Evaporated Milk to make homemade chicken cream soup, and it turned out so yummy. It gave the soup a rich, creamy texture without being too heavy and blended perfectly with the other ingredients. I love how smooth and consistent it is — it really elevated the recipe. I’ll definitely be keeping this on hand for more cooking and baking.
I love this milk to cook with but it cost so much. However, I noticed that the price is going down a little since the last time I bought it.(Last month) I can see that the ounces are less. I still buy it because that is what I like to use.
This is a "tried and true" product for many years. It makes many desserts taste perfect. It can be kept unrefrigerated in your pantry but must be refrigerated once opened. It tastes great in coffee or tea, and the pricing offered by Walmart is very competitive. It would be nice if Carnation sold it with a plastic cap for the top. You must punch a pouring hole in the top of the can. A plastic snap lid for the top after opening would ensure fresher "in use" product and prevent refrigerator odors from tainting the taste!
I grew up with Carnation Evaporated Milk always in the fridgerator . Im 69. And I still like it. You can put it in your tea or coffee. Or use it when your cooking. Or straight from the can. HAHAHAHa. We use to get in the fridge to get a drink of it. LOL. Im not saying we were aloud. :)
There are so many ways to use this but my favorite way is to use it as coffee creamer. I drink Nescafe instant coffee so I just heat up a cup of water, put in a tablespoon of instant coffee, three packets of Splenda and a good size splash of Carnation Evaporated Milk. Stir is up and you got a cup of heaven! Great Taste! Enjoy :)
I only use Carnation brand of evaporated milk when cooking/baking because I can rely on it. It is thick and rich and so very smooth. The taste is so creamy. For example, when I use this brand in my homemade pumpkin pies they are always silky smooth and rich tasting. I’ve been using Carnation for fifty years and will continue to do so!
The only reason this got four stars instead of five is because the manufacturer made the cans smaller which is ripping off the consumer. I would use a can to make two pumpkin pies and have a little leftover for my cats, and now I can barely eke out enough for my pies. The quality is good, but making the cans smaller is irritating.
the ones with the new labels taste watered down. I buy this milk alot and it tastes different now. please switch it back or will have to buy a different brand. I have tried numerous cans of the one's with the new labels on them and they are useless in my coffee due to the watered down taste
The Container / Can crushed and damaged can that my can opener can't even handle to be opened. Not to mention, they substituted it for the other one I ordered but I can't even use it.
