Easy install in under 15 minutes. I used the existing badger insinkerator hardware that was already in place and just twisted this one on. Very very easy as everything just fit. This replaced a badger disposal model 1-83 1/3 hp unit. This is noticeably quieter. With a little more adjustment I could have got it front facing but I didn’t care for it.
I had this product some years back and I never had a problem with it just as long as you follow the maintenance throw ice cubes in it now and then keep the blades Sharp never pour grease in your sink always keep your sink clean. And you will have many many years with this garbage disposal. I'm very satisfied with it. I recommend this one to anyone who needs one. And I feel if you take care of it and follow the maintenance instructions as I just said it will last you over 10 years. But when using the garbage disposal always run water through it to keep the pump primed that way you will never burn it up and it will run like brand new every time you use it. My name is Dan Unger AKA former actor and movie director and producer. Thank you again and I look forward and buy more products in the future this way. I hope this review helps many people thank you again
The garbage disposal arrived well-packaged with all the necessary hardware for installation. Its size is standard, and the plastic exterior, while different from the typical metal finish, makes it noticeably lighter than other models. I appreciated the slim design, and the included hardware was fully compatible with my older Badger unit. Before removing the old disposal, I noticed the mounting flange and attachments looked nearly identical to the new unit’s design. That prompted me to uninstall the damaged unit while leaving the existing metal attachments in place. Upon closer inspection, I confirmed they matched perfectly, so I reused them. This decision saved time and effort, especially since the new disposal didn’t include plumber’s putty, and I wanted to avoid an extra trip to the hardware store. Operation is simple: it uses a standard US AC plug and doesn’t require any special instructions. Despite having the same power rating as my old unit, this one runs noticeably quieter—a definite upgrade in terms of noise. One important detail: this model doesn’t have a slot for a wrenchette at the bottom. If it gets jammed, you’ll need to clear it from the top using a special tool or by carefully inserting a wooden stick to rotate the internal components until they move freely, then flush it out. Pros: - Lightweight and easy to handle - Quiet operation compared to the older one with same Horse power - Compatible with older mounting hardware - Straightforward installation Cons: - No plumber’s putty included - No bottom slot for wrenchette (manual un-jamming required), so need to pay special attention to the type and quantity of garbage and ensure to run enough water to minimize jamming.
Because it was listed as economical, my expectations weren’t beyond…”please just be functional.” Imagine how surprised we were to hear how it was less noisy than our previous 15 year old garbage disposal! Thanks to reviews and ratings here especially!!!
Amazingly EASY to install. I did NOT have to put the new TOP drain in sink, I simply disconnected the old one and this Garbage disposal fit perfectly. My drain hookup also matched up perfectly with old unit. This was literally like a 3 minute replacement. I was ready for a project but "MURPHY" stayed home and this was truly easy...and it looks So much better than the old one. DON'T FORGET to PUNCH OUT the STOPPER PLUG in the DISHWASHER HOLE when attaching the dishwasher drain hose!!!! It punches from the OUTSIDE in with a screwdriver 🪛 and hammer 🔨 reach inside or tip upside down to retrieve plug punch out.
Just buy it! I've been using this brand/type of disposal (details below) for 30 years and keep coming back for more. I got a lot of **** for putting in a $60 disposal I bought from Walmart at 2:00 in the morning - no regrets. Installation is straight forward, they do sound a little different than some other disposals and... they kick butt!! Never an issue and all exceeded their warranty term. Tech stuff: These are part of a group of disposals that use a Permanent Magnet DC Motor and as such they run faster than more "traditional" disposals. Originally branded Bone Crusher... yep! (Chicken %26 turkey only, NO beef %26 pork bones please.) **Still, always buy the extended warranty!**
The installation was simple and install instructions were accurate. The motor runs quiet compared to the 1/2 hp of my previous disposal and the power level appears to be sufficient for the job. The understated size of this disposal allowed my arms and hands ample room to make all the needed connections easier than I had anticipated. For the money, this is a wise choice.
Powerful half horse motor that handles everything you throw at it. Exceptionally quiet, great when you have dinner guest. The last thing is while American Standard has always built quality kitchen equipment it is lightweight with its cast aluminum casing that resists rust the installation was a 10 minute breeze. 3 thumbs up!
For the money, I shouldn't nit pick but... It doesn't suck down water and left over food debris. Every time it needs to be stopped so solids can be manually pushed into the grind chamber. Hoping the rubber opening will soften and open a little with time and usage. See image the rubber comes together tightly. The unit was easy to install. Directions were very clear and easy to follow. Disposal is also very quiet. Overall a very good unit for the price.
From a first try, seems to be a very good and powerful little machine, perhaps for septic tank and system; preparation of waste to be fermented into potential fuels for augmentation of homestead electricity production, home heating, water heating, water pumping, etc... as I am hoping to be able to do.
