Greatly enjoy making cornbread with this meal. I followed the package directions, actually let it set a little longer to absorb the liquids. My cornmeal was full bodied, not mushy like over milled cornmeal. If you like over processed limp white bread this meal isn't for you, if you like something to sink your teeth into, enjoy!
I liked it's consistency, and aroma when it was used to prepare my ethnic african food.
found it easy to get at Walmart; everywhere else just medium grind cornmeal
I liked everything about it!
THE CHICKENS LOVES IT!
I'm don't give 5 stars often but this cornmeal is exactly what I was looking for. I'm an engineer, not a cook but I like to experiment now and then. I wanted to make some cornbread that has some grittiness to it as Mom used to make so long ago.
It was exactly what I was looking for. Great quality. Definitely will buy again.
I like the taste I like the texture. My grandfather ran a one-man gristmill. I know a little about cornbread.
Thank goodness I have some Bob's Red Mill coarse grind cornmeal! It is the real thing, no comparison to others. I have an heirloom cornbread recipe from my southern gr-grandmother which requires very few ingredients but must start with the coarse grind cornmeal to be authentic. My family looks forward to it at holidays but there was no Bob's coarse grind cornmeal on our grocery shelf this year!! (Another shopper was looking for it too.) This cornmeal actually IS coarse grind and has retained all of the healthy vitamins and germ of the corn which makes the moist golden skillet cornbread we like. I have a feeling that my great grandmother would give it her seal of approval too. M. Barker (Texas)
My husband prefers coarse ground cornmeal above all other types. Very few brands offer a coarse variety-most are just stone ground and there is a huge difference. In our area, we have only one store that carries the coarse variety and since March it became even more difficult to find in stock. I spent much time looking at other online sources, including yours, and had to wait until the product was back in stock. I find it freezes well, so I ordered more than I needed but do not want to run out again especially with colder weather coming and I make it at least once a week.
