Great Value Instant Nonfat Dry Milk, 64 oz Bag, Makes 20 Quarts

This is a self-stable food item that has saved me in the pandemic and through Virginia's unusually cold winter... though I prefer fresh, cold milk, when the shelves get emptied, due to the immediate needs of the consumer, I don't have to go without cereal and nutritional calcium. I have learned, however, that mixing milk works when using room temperature water (then chill the milk), so that taste/texture/visual optics of the same are pleasing. When running low on my regular milk stable, I use this dry milk mix in recipes that call for milk. When I have to use it in cereal (where the difference between the "milks" are more obvious), I use chocolate and/or Strawberry syrup to add to the cereal. For families with children, you can buy big bag cereal (like rice crispies), and when adding the syrup, you instantly change the cereal (cocoa crispies) for less than those already flavored. Just sharing a household/nutritional tidbit.

I have been using this product for several years. It's a great way to get extra protein, especially for me since I'm on a gastroparesis diet. I use it every day and plan to continue using it as long as it's available. I mix it with 1% milk. It dissolves quickly and easily in cold milk.

it took several months of finding what I consider to be the perfect measure, but I finally have it to where I believe this powdered milk is as good as a gallon of milk you buy in the dairy section. first of all, I would suggest storing it in glass containers, such as a glass bottle or glass pitcher, rather than plastic. I found that some plastics seem to affect the taste of the milk. also, I would say never measure by the cup because of the fact that the powder doesn't always settle just right, you are not always getting an accurate measure. weigh it on a kitchen scale, always! the instructions on the package say 184 g of milk powder to 7 cups of water. I found $198 g to approximately 7 cups, that is I fill the water up to the top of the half gallon bottle that I use, to have what I consider to be the best flavor. I would also recommend that you use a blender or a blender stick to dissolve the powder. when you do that, and you pour it in the bottle, there will be a great deal of foam at the top of the milk. But, I prepare the milk the night before pour it into the half gallon bottle, and put it in the fridge. by the next morning the foam is gone and I add water to the top of the bottle. One last thing I'll say, never drink the milk just after you make it. let it sit in the refrigerator several hours, or better yet, overnight so that the milk powder and the water can fully marry into milk. So, that's my advice.

We love how it tastes and that it even tastes better than the milk we have been buying from the stores. Its a huge saving when we make it instead of buying from the stores. It works great when cooking with it too. Very happy with the product and the price.

I like the convince of having on hand. It mixes very well. If you make night before, it is better by morning. What I do not like is the $20.00 it cost for each 5 lb. Bag. There is no reason for it to cost that much. Walmart and other suppliers stores raised the price ( more than doubled) since the pandemic. , which actually began in 2020, late year and in 2022 came the shur down. The price of milk on the commidodity markets is down. Poor dairy farmers. They have never been paid a fare price for the work that they do to supply a gallon of milk. Before 2020, many dairies made improvements. Price of milk was better then. You can not just walk away from a lifestyle of milking. The investment of having the dairy is in some cases in the millions. But what they receive on the market is a drop inthe bucket of what it cost to produce the milk. All dairy farmers live inthe dreamworld that prices will get better. It doesn't. So someone between the producer and the distributor of the finished product is striking gold with powdered milk. Shame on them. Powdered milk if mixed correctly taste just as good as the milk one purchases in the store in liquid form. Come on, middleman, back off and let especially the children have cheaper powdered milk. Not everyone has a grocery a block away. So make it more sellable at a cheaper price. There are some families really struggling with today's prices. Give someone who has a house full of especially young children with teenagers going to bed with five cookies and a big glass of milk, give all households that have to buy powered milk a big break. Middleman, don't you have any sympathy for those of us stretching the dollar. Don't buy powered milk thinking it is cheaper. It is a awful price to have to pay for convenience. L.G.

Super convenient! Ordered this for the hurricane season and decided to stick with it. Mixed it thicker to use on frozen blueberries and unsweetened cereal. Also, I mix it in the serving bowl with tap water, after adding the cereal. Should have done this all along...

Great Value does it again. This is excellent quality powdered skim milk at an excellent price for ''20'' quarts. Mixes with water nicely... NO lumps. I keep ours refrigerated in a glass pitcher as per package directions for the best taste. I also use for baking to substitute fresh whole milk. That saves me even more $$$.

I only drink instant milk mixed with things, like a mocha drink I make daily. I don't like it alone. My reasoning for using it is it is much lighter than a gallon of milk regarding carrying it into thd house. We're both disabled so thst matters. The cost is about the same.I make 3 cups at a time in a tall shaker bottle.

package had a label slapped on the bag and they tossed it to the mail person. it was tossed onto my porch. as far as i can tell, no holes in the bag. delivery sketchy. never again. figured they might at least put in a small box or SOMETHING to try to protect it.

I've been buying this for quite a while with no problem. I just pour it on cereal but don't drink it. When I just opened my current bag which I've been using, I saw these little round cream colored “pebbles “ for want of a better description. I'm not sure if I should continue to use it. I'm showing two pictures — one before adding water and one after.
