It comes with everything you need to make your own habitat, Chia and Ryegrass seeds. Colored sand, and white rocks. Plus 2 tiny figures to top it off! I definitely recommend you buy one for your family. It comes with a small bottle for misting.

He goes to the kitchen every day to look at it and see how much it's grown. ! He was able to see that dedication and consistency makes things grow! Great at home project! We have been buying them for all of his friends for their birthdays and they all love it too. I love that it teaches the responsibility of taking care of a plant and is fun to put together.

The kit comes with everything you need, soil, seeds, rocks, stickers to decorate. The jar is plastic. My son is 5 and it was easy fir him to assemble. He likes watering it himself. He loves checking the progress each day to see if and how much his plants grew.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave this to my nephew for his 7th birthday. It's a nice activity that's not just another "toy". It says for 8+ but if you have a patient/rule following 7 year old they can easily assemble it pretty independently. Really fun birthday gift idea especially for kids that have more than enough toys and my nephew took responsibility of watering it and caring for it very seriously. But it's basically a plastic jar with some stickers, a couple figurines, chia seeds and dirt so if you wanted to just teach your kid about plants there are more economical ways to do so.

It comes with directions to instruct you on how to do the layers of soil, sand, and rocks. I thought the jar would be bigger than what it is. I like that it is plastic, so that if it falls on the floor, it won't break. My child loved this. She was able to do this on her own in about 20 minutes with parental supervision. We've only has it a day, so I can't speak for how well the seeds germinate and grow.
