This product was extremely easy to use and I was amazed at how quickly it filled up the space I needed it for. There was a huge hole under my sink that the previous owners left open so I used this product. I didn't notice an odor from the product as I used it, and the tube to administer the foam kept me from making a huge mess. Such a great application and no mess! Thank you for an amazing product!
I used this insulating foam around my door and also around my bow window. It's very easy to use. I had no problems when using it. The expanding foam does a great job without any mess. It filled in all the gaps and seems to be holding up well. It is hard to tell in summer if the draft will still come through in winter, but I can not imagine that it would. It is soft and seems to fill the gap without any problem. It seems to give some which is good becuase it can expand. The dispenser is very easy to use. It is much easier to use than other insulating prducts I have tried. I gave it 5 stars. I would highly recommend this product for your next project.
I got this foam to fill in a gap between in the door frame in my garage. The gap was about 3/4 inch. I shook the can for a good sixty seconds then placed the spray nozzle on the can. It was easy to put light pressure on the nozzle and direct the foam into the gap. It doesn't harden immediately and you can make adjustments if necessary. I did wear latex gloves and eye protection as recommended. The next day I was able to trim off the excess with my pocket knife. Not just good stuff, great stuff.
Actually, insulating spray-in foam doesn't just help during cold weather. It helps in ALL weather, because it keeps the good air in and the hot or cold air OUT. We just moved into a new place that had huge gaps around the doors, the washer/dryer pipes and vents, the windowsills, and even some outlets. We could feel cold air pouring into the house and needed this fixed. There is a regular spray and a long thin straw-like piece you can add on (it comes with it) to get into cracks. I am looking forward to being more comfortable and having a lower energy bill since we got the sealant. It's easy to use, also. I have arthritis in my hands and it was very simple to use and didn't cause pain like spray-pumps do.
Like it says, Great Stuff! I'm not an expert on using this stuff but it's not too hard to use but practice first to see how it flows and expands. Then do a dry run to see if the hose gets caught on anything and mark the spot so you'll know where it is. If you want to see a video on how to use it go on You Tube and check some out before you start. Great stuff and I love it!. Be sure to wear, safety glasses, and maybe gloves but I didn't have any at the time so I used it any way, and have the proper cleaning materials on hand for clean up.
this review is for the GREAT STUFF INSULATING WINDOW & DOOR FOAM SEALANT. this is a yellow sealant that expands to fill and insulate gaps. it is a soft flexible material that allows for expanding and contracting. it works perfectly around windows and door jambs to prevent heat loss. it is air tight and water resistant and paintable as well. it dries in 15 minutes but cures in 8 hours. recommended usage temperature is in 60-90F weather. before using, remove all dirt and dust from the gaps to be filled as you need a tight clean surface for this sealant. the can comes with an attachable screw on straw to assemble onto the valve. dispense the foam sealant slowly. wear gloves and safety glasses to protect against mishaps with eyes and skin. easy clean-up on solid surfaces using acetone but on skin or on cured foam, it must be manually removed or allowed to wear off(in time). this is a very versatile insulating sealant. use around in-wall dryer vents and lightly around the perimeter of receptable boxes inside the walls prior to covering the electrical outlets.
Nothing is worse to me than worrying about a snake sneaking into my rabbit pen and devouring a newborn bunny, so I was past excited to know that Great Stuff have created a new insulating foam sealant. I have used Great stuff before to seal up holes in chicken pens. I read all the instructions on the can which I highly recommend and even though they didn't suggest gloves, I suggest gloves, do not touch this product with your hands, no matter how tempting You will not be able to get it off and it will have to wear off. I did use this product to insulate around a window that the installer did not properly seal (he figured I would never know). I completely sealed the window and still had enough to completely seal the gaps in the roof of my rabbit pen. Now, full disclosure, Great Stuff does not recommend filling voids like this but it really will work for small openings and it is Fabulous.I do recommend that before you begin with using this product to assess if you will need the full can and if not, try to think of another way to use it so as not to waste product. Once you stop using the sprayer, I doubt you will get it started again. The cap is very good at sealing the connection, I didn't have Any leaks. Super impressed.
While I know the main purpose of GREAT STUFF Insulating Foam is for windows and doors, I actually used it around some pipes that we had under a kitchen sink in some rental property. It really helped with the seal where the pipes were coming out of the wall and you could feel a small draft under the sink. After applying the foam sealant, which was beyond easy, the draft was gone. While it's not the prettiest looking sealant, it does work!
This is an awesome product! I would highly recommend this product for filling gaps or cracks, especially when weather proofing your home. You have the ability to fill small cracks or large spaces as well. I was able to fill a very large gap with paper, and sprayed this product on top and around the paper. This stuff is like Super Glue. It is very sticky, and nearly impossible to remove. I would suggest using gloves with this product. Also, it is very helpful if you tape off the area you are using it in, to prevent any spillage or accidents. Another good idea is to have some type of remover on hand in case you get the product in an unwanted area. I've used acetone, alcohol, Vaseline, paint thinner, and mineral oil. Even after using all of these products, I was only able to remove a small portion that was stuck on my wall. Another good tool to include is a box cutter or a exact-o knife. This product swells very large, and once it dries, you will want to cut off any excess. What I don't like about this product is that its a one time use product. If you stop using it more than an hour, or stop and start, the foam hardens inside and around the dispenser straw, and you wont be able to get any more to come out. So be sure you have all of the materials you need to complete the project before you start. I would highly recommend practicing on cardboard first, in order to get used to how the product sprays out of the can. If not, you may make a huge mess, and with this product being so sticky, you will have a hard time removing any spillage.
I would have to say this is very easy to use and does not take much!!. If you use too much and it expands out make sure you let it cure or dry. Then after it dries use a serrated blade to trim off excess so as to not to create a mess or smear all over door jam or whatever you're using it on. I like this and do recommend!
