I bought these post oak chunks to balance out my other fruit wood chunks like cherry, apple, and pecan. I feel like Frankenstein creating a monster. I have no idea how the post oak chunks blended with the cherry and apple, but my pastrami brisket came out great. Good flavor and smooth smoke taste.
Good Oak Wood Chunks for BBQ Smoking. From Walmart and this brand I have purchased Post Oak, Mesquite, and Hickory chunks. One chunk in the Weber kettle or a few in the Big Green Egg, you get good wood smoke flavor. Much better than wood chips which just flame up no matter how soaked they are.
It's the best bang for the buck. Great wood for a great price. The flavoring from this wood is a medium smoky flavor that is stronger than apple and cherry, but lighter than hickory and mesquite. It's great by itself, but works well blended with apple, cherry or hickory woods as well!
If you're a longtime fan of Central Texas barbecue, you know that the wood most used by the meat markets was post oak! This wood gives barbecue a distinctive flavor without turning bitter. Apply these chunks to your firebox and you'll notice the mellow, authentic flavor their smoke gives to brisket, ribs, poultry and sausage!
Really easy to order and it's as described. Order came really fast and you are informed of transition. It's reliable and great service that helps to make your day to go smother.
Pretty decent product you get what you paid for some of the chunks were kind of small. They were like four big chunks, but they were dry and the flavor was good.
Best Post Oak wood chunks available. I purchased several boxes that will last for many months. I use them for chicken, ribs, trip tip and hamburgers.
Wished the box was bigger. Makes your outdoor cooking taste like expensive BBQ. Good clean chunks, minimal bark and so much better than the Open Nature brand. Have bought two times and will order again. This item is an online purchase only.
Wood is decent for smoking. My only gripe is for the price should get more. Smoking a brisket can take 12 hours and with this product you are using at least a couple boxes
chunks are small
