Corn starch is a must in any kitchen. Instantly thicken up any liquid, without the use of bland tasting flour. For those of you who like homemade gravy, pour you broth or fat drippings in a small frying pan, use a touch of bouillon (if you like), and a very small amount of butter and water. Stir in corn starch until the gravy thickens. For a delicious beef gravy, include a little Kitchen Bouquet Browning and Seasoning Sauce, before you add the water. Mom's own recipe. mmm
I don't think I've ever tasted cornstarch right out of the box. I have purchased this Great Value cornstarch for years. I find it to be as good as the name brand. My mother-in-law would disagree with me if she was still around. I don't know why but she insisted on name brand and never asked me about what I used in the gravy I made. It was not her pick for sure.
It's cornstarch, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. Works perfectly for thickening sauces, gravies, and soups, and I've never noticed any difference compared to more expensive brands. This is one of those basics where there's really no reason to pay more when this performs just as well. Simple, reliable, and always good to have on hand.
Just bought and replaced my old corn starch that expired a few years ago. Unfortunately this comes in a box (even though it is in a sealed pouch inside). My old Great Value one was in a cannister. A little messy making it all fit, but cleaned out the old cannister and emptied contents of box pouch into it then labeled with new best by date.
A baking staple at a reasonable price. Gravy, fruit sauces, cookies and cakes all benefit from a little baking corn starch. Many chicken/meat recipes can be a little better using corn starch rather than flour. This product is useful, good and competitively priced.
I highly recommend this Great Value Corn Starch, great for thickening sauces and gravies also great for soothing sunburn and other skin irritation, removing oil stains, detailing knots and more,35 calories per servings. In addition to acting as a thickening agent for silky-smooth sauces and gravies and making omelets fluffier cornstarch has myriad non- culinary uses. it's delivers on its promises! I'm very satisfied with my purchase!
Great Value brands are a staple for my baking needs and this cornstarch is a favorite. It's far cheaper than brand names, but the same high quality and performance. I notice no difference in thickening sauces and stir frys, nor when I use it for puddings or sweets. It works great to add to flour make a faux cake flour, too.
It's cornstarch and it does what cornstarch does. I use it for the usual cornstarch stuff - - thickening sauces - - and it does what it is supposed to do. The price is great, too. I also use it with all purpose flour for coatings on meats and crispy tofu. Sometimes I use potato starch but lately it's been this cornstarch. I don't usually use it in baking or making pastries.
I read somewhere that corn starch will kill crabgrass. Just sprinkle where ever you see crabgrass . Sounds simple and no mixing so I'm game. Bought two. Wish me luck.
Because you guys could have sent it with the other things that I ordered for some reason you guys didn't do that and the first customer rep told me that you guys can't give me my money back or ship it to me i don't understand that one so now you robbing me with out a gun i have more respect if you held me up at gun point then to take my money like that and I been ordering things for ten years online with you guys i was really disappointed and didn't believe that you guys was going to do me like that I'm thinking about buying my stuff from Amazon now
