delicious for homemade recipes/or a snack or meal

Michelle April 20, 2026

so I cook all my meals myself. homemade. from scratch. and I make a lot of chili, so this chili powder always comes in handy. and I love how reasonably priced it is! it's delicious and fresh every time I purchase it. and I can always count on it tasting delicious. I usually stock up on a few of these so that I have them in reserve as a pantry item. so go ahead and get a few of these because you'll most likely always be glad you did!

GV Chili powder cook Prep, simmer

Anonymous June 28, 2026

This works fine for making chili. Is the main thing about a good chili dish, and how you work that chili seasoning. Chili seasoning needs to have simmering to give it strength. At the start, you simmer cook bite chunks of ground beef. Some people then just add everything into a pot, and cook, stir, cook. But can make things more chili yummy by cooking that ground beef special at the start. So its cook the beef as usual, I like bite size ground beef, brown that in skillet till regular cooked done. Then add water to the cooked beef, to just barely cover to top of done beef, next sprinkle chili powder all over the surface of the beef and water, stir. Low simmer temperature to simmer the chili into the beef, simmer, stir some, till barely any water chili in skillet. Making the chili simmer cook very well into the beef. (Around 20 minutes gentle simmering.) Now chili beef is ready for the big chili pot add of rest of things for making your chili. This chili beef, will make the chili even taster. Add the rest of ingredients as usual to your chili pot. People will notice that beef chili bite. It will be good. Cook rest of your chili things together as usual, simmer simmer, the neighbors all smell it and come to visit. I use to place a fan at back kitchen window to pull the chili smell from front of house to go out back, and maybe not have as many people show for the chili. My chili pot is hugh to include the neighbors. Pot is 55 inches around the top. Simmer Simmer, chili add, stir, simmer, yummy : ) I cook lots of chili at a time, cause chili is great with simmer again next day or later in week the rewarm and have again. Using the Ice-cream plastic gallon container is good for storing some chili in frig for later warm up in a day or two.

Good flavor at a lower price point.

Kim April 11, 2026

Flavor as good as brand names but is less expensive. Previously bought the Walmart dark chili powder that has a stronger taste, but this one is nice.

Excellent.

Not to sound like a commercial, but Walmart keeps amazing me with even the little things that come up for cheap! This GV Chili Powder is excellent and costs way less than half the other stuff.

Chili Powder is Spicy!!

Peggy April 7, 2026

We were getting low on chili powder, so I checked the prices at Walmart and they were having a "2 for the price of 1" sale, so I purchased 3 bottles!! Very flavorful, very spicy!!!

Recipe went from mild to hot!

Cher July 14, 2026

First let me say I have been using ONLY this chili powder since about 2020. I preferred it because it had chili flavor(even though I had to use a lot) but was not spicy! Now it's suddenly insanely hot. Now I have to find a new brand to use for family meals because my kids will no longer eat it! Unfortunately I'll no longer be purchasing for this reason, if they wanted to change it they should have just created a hot version, this is extremely disappointing.

Flavorless brownish-red powder

Ronald March 20, 2026

I am shocked at all the rave reviews I read here. That wasn't my experience at all based on other chili powders I have used before. For me it was a brownish-red powder that is 99% flavorless. No flavor at all. The faintest amount of heat from peppers, barely even detectable. Otherwise zero flavor of any kind, it was completely neutral. Didn't give me the slightest hint of anything resembling "chili" flavor. No point in even using it.

Chili powder does not have chili powder at all

JENNIFER February 22, 2026

Never in my life have I gotten chili powder that doesn't taste like chili powder. There was no taste in my chili at all but what was from the other seasonings. I ended up using the entire container and no chili taste at all… nothing. Something is seriously wrong with this product

FranklySpeaking July 4, 2026

id been buying this for months. i always thought it was a tad on the bland side but always just used more of it. well i just noticed another reviewer mentioning 'canola oil' in the ingredients. hmm... the website doesnt list that as an ingredient so i just took a look at the bottle. sure enough, theyve added canola oil to it! why? i have NO idea, but it is disgusting and an absolute dealbreaker for me going forward. there is NO reason to add that to a chili powder, %26 ive never seen it in any other brand. since i do not consume industrial seed oils, i will NEVER purchase this great value brand again, regardless of its bargain price! in this case you get what you pay for. adulterated "chili powder". i'm nauseated thinking about how many times ive ordered %26 used this %26 never even thought i had to look at the bottle since walmarts website didn't list that as an ingredient. well their site lied. never again. ill spend more on the brands that don't misrepresent themselves %26 don't add industrial oil to what should be a a straighforward seasoning. gross!
