I searched above and beyond for this! Walmart was the only place that had it! I used this to make kroll's korner funfetti cookies and they were awesome! So yummy! My friend also mixes this in her coffee! Walmart is also the cheapest other people are charging Double and triple price
My only complaint is they are always out of stock because it’s so great! Amazing to add to baked goods for oatmeal.
I had the chance to try McCormick Cake Batter Flavor and I was excited because I love anything that tastes like birthday cake. When I first opened the bottle, the smell was spot-on — sweet, buttery, and exactly like cake batter. I tried it in a few different ways: I added a little to my homemade buttercream frosting, swapped some of the vanilla in chocolate chip cookies, and even mixed a bit into pancake batter for a fun weekend breakfast. Every time, it gave my recipes that nostalgic "birthday cake" vibe that my kids and I really enjoyed. What I liked most is that a little goes a long way, so even a small amount makes a big difference. It's versatile too — not just for cakes, but for cookies, pancakes, or even shakes. The only things to keep in mind: if you use too much, it can overpower other flavors, and it does have artificial colors and flavors. In my frosting, I noticed a slight tint from the coloring. Overall, though, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to make their desserts more fun and festive. It's a great way to add a special twist to everyday baking, and I'll be keeping it in my pantry for birthdays and beyond!
I got this product for free in exchange for this review, however this is my honest opinion. I love the McCormick Cake Batter extract. I used it as a replacement for vanilla extract in my cheesecake and it was so good. Will for sure be using it in future recipes.
As a mom of 4 and someone who loves experimenting in the kitchen, I'm always on the lookout for extracts that can add a unique twist to my creations. I've tried my fair share of flavor enhancers, but McCormick's Cake Batter Extract stands out in a league of its own. Compared to other extracts I've used, McCormick's Cake Batter Extract has a distinct, genuine flavor. Some other brands I've tried tend to taste artificial or have a strange aftertaste, but this one truly captures the essence of cake batter. It's sweet, buttery, and has that comforting vanilla aroma that makes you want to dive headfirst into a mixing bowl. The aroma literally smells like a cake batter holiday candle at Christmas time! I've used it in cookies, cakes, frostings, and even milkshakes, and it always adds a delightful touch. Moreover, it's a fantastic pantry staple for those moments when you want to elevate a simple dessert without spending hours in the kitchen. Would I buy this product again? Absolutely! It has become a staple in my kitchen, and I can't imagine baking without it. And would I recommend it to my friends and family? Without a doubt! It's a game-changer for anyone who loves to bake and wants to add a little extra magic to their creations. *I recieved this product free in exchange for this honest review.*
My daughter and I were excited to try this. We weren't sure exactly how we would use it, but the packaging comes with helpful suggestions, namely, substituting for vanilla in existing recipes. (I'm sure you could get more creative, but we're very novice bakers.) We ended up adding this to prepackaged banana nut muffin mix that tasted way too much like artificial banana. The flavoring has a great smell just like cake batter, and it really improved the flavor of our muffins and made them taste more like fresh cake. We would recommend this as a fun twist on vanilla in recipes!
McCormick changed the name from Vanilla Butter Nut to Cake Batter flavor. Love this old fashioned cake flavoring. I wish they did not add food coloring to it-the additives are not necessary. It is a dark yellow-orange color now.
The cake batter flavor is a delightful blend. I made homemade cake batter flavored ice cream. From the first taste, it captures that unmistakable "licking the bowl" sweetness of freshly mixed vanilla cake batter — buttery, sugary, and just a touch of vanilla warmth. It's rich without being overwhelming. That being said, it is very sweet so be prepared. However, it was delicious. Best enjoyed: when you're craving something cozy, celebratory, and unapologetically sweet.A near-perfect treat that delivers on its promise — tastes like birthday cake in every bite.
I really wanted to like this product as a lover of all things cake flavored. However I have tried this product in baked goods, homemade ice cream, and in smoothies. Unfortunately it just gives off a chemical taste. I honestly couldn’t tell any type of cake flavoring. Also it is a weird yellow color which does come through in your final product. Very disappointing.
I seen a homemade coffee creamer recipe that contained this product. This product contains yellow 5 and red 40. Also contains polyethylene glycol. Polyethylene glycol is made from ethylene glycol... Growing up I always had the impression that McCormick had quality ingredients and lacked the science experiment approach to foods. Do better McCormick!
