OBI200

Phooff February 17, 2017

The OBI200 is replacing a 4 year old OBI110. Didn't notice any difference between the 2 units performance. Replacement is easy. Visit the OBItalk account and delete the 110. Then 'Add Device" the OBI200. Any numbers needed are on the bottom of the OBI . Use this device with Google voice for a free "land line phone".

Amazing unit

GoodToShopWalmart February 10, 2017

Easy setup and use your google phone to make free calls. This is the first time I used it. I checked the comment on website before I bought it. It functions as others' comment. No problem found so far. Very happy about it.

Small unit but does a big job!

Hereweegoagain April 19, 2017

Very small unit but it does a great job of VOIP service. I have not lost or have had a dropped a call. Once in awhile I'll get a little echo in the background, but it is not the units fault. Its the nature of using VOIP. I got the unit at the end of Jan. 2017 and waited till now, 19 April 2017 to give it a try. I give 5 stars and a hardy recommendation.

Free Phone Service

Steven February 17, 2017

Open up a Google Voice account, plug in to your router and register account with obitalk.com and you have Always Free Phone service. It can be a simple phone that you can use to make and receive calls. Or it can be very feature rich.

Not going to be free calling for long

cookiecup March 21, 2017

Obi is not going to be free soon. I got a message from them telling me they are going to start charging very soon. As soon as everyone gets switched to the new obi's.

Works great!

trailrunner February 28, 2017

This device works great with google voice. We transferred our home number to GV and officially cut the cord with Time Warner. The phone works the same as before, but now for $0 a month.

Sounds as good as regular phone service

Daniel November 2, 2016

Easy to install. Easy to use. I now have almost completely free telephone service (using Google Voice is free to call anyone in the USA and Canada) - and very very cheap for overseas international calls.

Exceeds My Requirements

LakeHavasuCityAZ September 24, 2014

I have owned my Obi 200 for about 4 months. The device has worked flawlessly and calls are crystal clear. In fact they are more clear than my regular phone line. But you should understand right up front that you need a high speed internet connection. Either a DSL Internet Service Provider [ISP] or Cable ISP connection. My service is from my local phone company and is about 4-5 megabits on a good day. I would think that any internet service faster than 1 megabit would be more than fast enough for good service. You are also going to need a Voice Over Internet Protocol [VOIP] SERVICE PROVIDER. If you go to obitalk.com you will find many different providers which have special discount rates availalbe to indivuduals who have purchased Obi devices. For example I am using Phone.....com for my VOIP provider services. I pay about $35.00 for a full YEAR of phone service. For that amount of money I get 300 free minutes of calling to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada and anything over that is $.01 [1 cent per minute]. Super cheap in my book. That also includes voicemail and 911 services and includes all taxes. You just pay once for the whole year of service. A difficulty you might run into is obtaining services from some VOIP company that can ALSO provide you with a LOCAL phone number. My advice is to shop around until you find one that has local number available OR you are willing to go through the transferring or porting of your existing number to the new service. I was lucky and my VOIP service provider did have 4 different numbers for me to choose from. REMEMBER, having a VOIP service is quite different than having a local phone company where you just pick up the phone and call for help. You are in some cased - your own phone company. You should know right up front that some VOIP service providers only have email technical support. In my case my selected company has 24/7 real live USA technical support but I have never used it since the set up was so easy. I did send them an email once and they responded in less than 24 hours. If you are just a little bit of a techno geek [just a little, LOL] you will most likely save bunches of money going with an Obi box and VOIP services. Its not something that most people who maintain their own PC's can't learn quickly. However, once the box is set up you no longer NEED a PC to run it. The Obi box run all by itself. The reason I purchased the Obi 200 is that is has a USB port which the series 100 units do not have and can accept an Obi WiFi adapter which would make installation easier for some people. However, the WiFi adapter is an extra cost item which I am not currently using. I have my Obi box setting right next to my homes WiFi router and connected by its Ethernet port and the cable that came with the Obi box. If I ever move; the ability to add WiFi someday might be a nice thing to have, LOL. I did not buy my Obi200 at Walmart but they are all the same no matter who you get them from. The Walmart price is very competitive and I have purchased lots of items from them over the years and have never been disappointed.

Great product!

BUSMAN October 24, 2016

I needed another option from cell as no coverage and this has provided me with just that. The best part is no monthly fees like with phone service from cable. I have had this for about 3 weeks and so far so good. I would recommend!
