My daughter and I were excited to try this. We weren't sure exactly how we would use it, but the packaging comes with helpful suggestions, namely, substituting for vanilla in existing recipes. (I'm sure you could get more creative, but we're very novice bakers.) We ended up adding this to prepackaged banana nut muffin mix that tasted way too much like artificial banana. The flavoring has a great smell just like cake batter, and it really improved the flavor of our muffins and made them taste more like fresh cake. We would recommend this as a fun twist on vanilla in recipes!

If you use even a drop too much, it can taste artificial or overpowering. When used sparingly, though, it does add a nice sweet 'birthday cake' flavor to cookies and frosting. I'd recommend starting light and adjusting to taste. I will definitely buy and use and more often when the holidays come around and I need to make a baked goods.

I was a little skeptical to try the product. Other than vanilla extract, I have not really added any other extracts to my baking recipes. I made sugar cookies that tasted exactly like the soft cookies you get at a grocery store. McCormick Cake Batter flavoring is very easy to use and great for flavoring items that need a little extra flavor. It was easy to mix in and didn't taste out of place. The flavoring tasted exactly like cake batter but wasn't overly sweet. I plan on using it in macarons and anywhere else I'd like to taste cake batter.
