If you admire elegant functional design (being an ex metal model maker, I do) than you will appreciate this product from Percision Design. Assembly, a breeze, thank you for not sharpening the tines and saving me several lacerations and allowing me to sharpen them to suite my own soil conditions. Construction is in my opinion more than adequate for intended use on a medium size lawn. The wheel assembly is good for jumping sidewalks and driveways but for towing any distance you should remove any added ballast weight.
I bought this to aerate my lawn and although I haven't used it until fall I am familar with the product and it is well built for the money. I bought it at $129.00 at a sale price (dont remember what origanal price was) but then it came on sale again and I got it on rollback price for $102.00
This aerator was easy to assemble-- works very well. Good product, good value.
This core areator will be fine for the regular "standard size" lawn application. As with all aerators of this type, hard packed soil, like some spots in my lawn, will require additional weight on the pan, and the additonal weight causes some excessive "bounce" at times while moving, and the weight needs to be lashed down for stability. Also, raising the tines with the wheel lifts with the weight applied, well, at 150lbs, the wheels are a little shaky, and may require some additional home modifications. If always using with heavy weight, the bars will eventually bend if not careful. However, it is a great machine for the price, great value, and will do exactly what I purchased it for. I was impressed with the sturdy construction of the overall frame and performance of the product. My only complaint is the wheels could be a little more sturdy and it would be nice if you only had to operate one handle instead of two. I would definetly buy the aerator again.
I shopped around, and found this machine. It looked as good as others for about 1/2 the price. It was very easy to assemble (less than 1 hr). It looks sturdy except for the wheel braces (see below). I used it once. Unfortunately the ground was dry and hard, so it had trouble penetrating the surface. I will try again in the spring. Wanted to wait for rain, but we are in a drought. You definitely need to load it us with concrete blocks to make it work (at least 50 lbs). When it is loaded with weight, you can't transport it using the wheels because the braces for the wheels are not strong enough (they will bend).
This seems to be a well designed product which performs as expected. Easy to assemble.
Works reasonable well except for braces for wheels. Easily bent and will not keep wheels set properly.
It was a good price, but it couldn't handle my yard. I was afraid to keep adding more weight, because I was afraid it might break. It may work for someone with less Georgia clay in their yard! I'm going to need something more heavy duty, or just hire a service to do it, since everything else I looked at was much more expensive.
