I use a lot of ghee with cooking, especially in Indian dishes, and this great value ran from Walmart has become my go to, primarily for price. Ghee can be quite expensive, and sometimes it may be worth upgrading, but for sautéing onions and garlic for sauce bases, I have been very happy with this.
So I got the ghee. didnt want to but I couldn't get real butter. It isn't bad or good, to me it tasted like nothing to me. Thinking maybe adding some herb and spice may help, like salt, some pepper, parmesan garlic and use it to make some tasty toasted bread, but for regular meals I tasted nothing. WM brand is the least expensive, just so you know.
Basically, good for cooking. It's not filtered enough if at all with lots of milk solids which leaves it not fully clarified butter. If you want to filter and save the buttermilk it could be used for other cooking or baking needs. Add the milk fat/buttermilk to your pancakes. Otherwise, as simply as ghee, if you're more of a chef, this may not be for you. You can make your own more filtered ghee. Good for basic cooking.
This a true review. I've never have tried or even heard of a product such as this. But I needed butter %26 was just home from a surgery %26 no way to get out %26 get as would call normal butter so I had shipment due %26 I was out of regular butter so I looked up butter for shipping purposes %26 it gave me this product. So I ordered it. I read all the reviews star 5 %26 down. I gotta say some people that right their reviews need to really focus on the product not if it came damaged or opened or outdated. imThe purpose of a review on a product is tell others like myself very simply if it's good or bad. Taste Texture etc things along that description of a product. Well I got it I tried it %26 it's not the best thing I'm thinking as it states it's spreadable. Meaning use it on toast or on just plain bread or rolls by itself. It's best usage is to add it to things that require a form of butter or margarine. It seems to me just standing alone without adding it to enhance the other foods you might need butter for like Mac%26 cheese or potatoes of whatever form pasta maybe fry an egg etc things like that. For myself being it's the 1st time I've even tried a product like this it wasn't that hard to figure out what it's good for %26 not. So my opinion is use for a recipe that needs butter or fry %26 egg or a grilled cheese or possibly melt add some additional salt or flavor for things like stovetop it microwave popcorn or if your baking cookies etc. I just wouldn't scoop out this %26 directly add to a roll or toast or just plop in on some veggies or rice pasta. If you do use it in that way don't add very much in the raw state as it comes right out of the jar a little bit goes along way if you add it after you've cooked veggies or rice pasta etc I did try that it was not bad at all but I only added a few dots on my Mac %26 cheese for example just to see what it would taste like if I add a few dots of it right out of the jar. The key was just a few dots and it melted on my Mac %26 cheese on my plate but the KEY IS little amount not even a 1/of a teaspoon a bit less then that if you add it as the example I gave. As far as toast or rolls popcorn you got melt it 1st %26 I'd say add salt or sugar a tiny bit of savory or sweet whatever your eating. But to say it's hideous %26 the worst tasting thing on the planet as I saw the reviews of taste rancid %26 sour %26 smells like chemicals. Well I experienced a tiny bit of that not enough to absolutely hate it. But smart enough to know if it was used especially in it firm right out of the jar I could see that being possible more so. THE KEY TO THIS PRODUCT IS DON'T USE A TON A LITTLE GOES ALONG WAYS %26 COOKING WITH IT BY ADDING IT TO YOUR VEGGIES YOUR RICE PASTA IF YOU NEED BUTTER OR JUST WANT THE TASTE OF BUTTER ADD WHILE YOU COOKING AS FAR AS TOAST OR MAYBE ROLLS POPCORN IM GOING TO EXPERIMENT FOR MY OWN CURIOSITY ON THOSE PARTICULARS. BUT ID SAY IT DIES ITS PURPOSE IN A JAM.
My husband and I are keto and use a lot of ghee since I am lactose intolerant. We go through a few jars a week, at least. We've TRIED to make this stuff work. We're probably at the bottom of the 10th jar and it is just terrible. Some jars are better than others, we have found, but some taste completely rancid. Some are GRITTY, somehow. We'll use this only in a pinch when nothing else is available because it's that bad. Do yourself a favor and purchase one of the other brands, they're are substantially better than this one.
Horrible, awful, DO NOT BUY THIS. Rancid taste. Just terrible. And no, it wasn't a 'bad batch'. I'm embarrassed to say I bought another brand before. Same experience. Why do they even make this? Don't buy it.
You DO NOT want this ghee. It is flat nasty. Rancid, soupy, grainy. I learned my lesson in trying to save a few cents. Threw this straight into the garbage. I will never stray from my 4th%26Heart ghee again.
I thought something was wrong with this jar (it was delivered). when i went into the store to check out the other jars, they were all the same - liquidy. I expect soft firm in my ghee, not runny. it was hard to spoon out %26 it seemed gritty. Didn't like this product
This product was opened when I received it. When I took the jar out of the bag, it was immediately greasy. When I unscrewed the cap, the safety seal had been broken and it looked like someone took a scoop out of the jar. Very gross and unsafe - I could not use the product. This is the second time I've received something that has been opened.
Spend a little more and get something else. This has a funny artificial taste and smell. It also has a strange grainy texture. I would not recommend this at all. I have used about a quarter of the jar and I'm just going to throw the rest out. It has not made me sick or anything but it's just not good.
